How Do You Consume Weddingbee?

September 19th, 2011 @ 10:22 am by Mrs. Penguin

Good morning hive!

There’s nothing that bees love more than our readers and commenters, and making it easy to access Weddingbee is one of our top priorities. We’re still transitioning to our new ownership, and when we finally settle in (hopefully by next month!) we hope to get cracking on some of the features you all have been asking for for so long. Among the feedback I hear on the site, most often I hear that hive members are discouraged because they can’t use their smart phones or tablet devices to comment on the site. We know we need to fix this, and it’s among my top priorities as editor of the site.

So, tell us:

I read Weddingbee mostly:

Making Weddingbee accessible by tablet / smart phone is:

I would probably comment on posts more if there were an easier method to comment or interact with the bees/blog

If there were a Weddingbee app, would you download it? (If you don’t have a smart phone or tablet, feel free to vote no.)

Thank you, hive! Your answers will help shape the direction of the site. :)

One of the questions is “If you’re a Facebook user, have you”

I’m not sure if it got cut off or there is something wrong with my browser, but I can’t vote on that one since I don’t know what the end of the sentence is!

I think an important follow up question to the WB mobile/tablet app would be, “Would you be willing to pay for the app?”

I love reading the bee on my iPad, but I can’t comment on boards with it. I would love it if I could.

@Wonderwoman217: Very important question! Good thinking!

Answering these questions just confirmed my addiction to the Hive… uh oh! ;) Have a good Monday ya’ll!

I used to follow @weddingbee on Twitter, but I stopped because it was usually just links to new posts. Since I use Google Reader to read WB, I’m not going to miss any posts, so the twitter account just seemed really redundant. If there was more unique interaction with readers going on via twitter, I might refollow. I would also love to see updates about site outages on the twitter! I always check there to see if it is just me having trouble with the site, and there is rarely an update on there.

I wish the first question allowed me to select more than one option. I know the operative word was “most”, but I’m on WB using my iPhone whenever I’m away from home just about daily. Wish I could’ve answered that one twice. Lol. I’m addicted to WB. Lol

I would comment and interact more if there was a way of being notified of comments that followed up to my comment specifically. I don’t want to subscribe to get EVERYONEs comment - but i’d want to know if someone replied to my comment.

@BMORE SEXI: Me too! I mainly read the post through my reader though about equally on my tablet and on the web. No option for that combo.

oooo Can we get mobile-accessible boards, please?! The only time I have for WB anymore is on my bus ride to/from work (about an hour each way) but I never even bother anymore because from my iPhone I can only read posts, not comment on them, and even that is difficult, having to zoom in reeeeeally far to click on a teeny-tiny link.

I mainly read the site on my computer, but I do read on my phone on my commute and I’d love to be able to comment via an App. I would like the app to work on the blog and the boards.

What if I read on the web/ directly on the site, from my tablet? :)

Thanks for pulling this together, Pengy! It’s fun seeing the results.

One thing that I would love for the site to do, is make it possible to comment from smartphones(iphone). I love reading WB while on the go but I can never comment on posts when I am on it. I am only able to comment and post on boards through the actual WB website on my laptop.

@mdarrah: Ditto! I hate having to scroll around and find posts I commented on. Would be so nice if there was a notification for @replies

I’m a bit addicted to weddingbee, so I look at it on my iPhone, computer, other people’s blackberry’s (when my phone dies). Whenever I can get my hands on it!

I try to access the site on my iPad but it will not let me type comments so its kinda lame I have to use my computer to access the site if I want to leave comments or write anything…

Love that you’re taking new steps to make it easier for us to access the site! I like to read on my iPad, but don’t as much as I would if there were an app available.
