Mrs. Lioness, Atlanta Age and Occupation: 25, Physical Therapist Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Attorney Engagement Date: August 29, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2011 Venue: Anthony’s Fine Dining About Me: I’m a Southern girl with New England roots. I say "wicked" and "y’all" in the same sentence and I like to drink sweet tea with my lobster. Mr. Lion and I are both former Floridians now living in Atlanta, which fortunately is still SEC country...Go Gators! We both love baseball, coffee, traveling, cooking, and playing Words with Friends with each other on our iPhones all day long. I’m very passionate about the things and the people I love, and I tend to plan things with all of my heart...our wedding, of course, is no different! Oh, and also Mr. Lion is a first generation American of Cuban descent. I may look more like Lucy than Ricky, but I’m doing my best to incorporate some Latin elements into our vintage-garden-Southern wedding!

Love is Where We Are: Gift Exchange

September 19th, 2011 @ 3:21 pm by Mrs. Lioness

Now that both the boys and the girls were dressed and ready to go, it was time for Mr. Lion and I to exchange gifts. We chose not to do a first look, so Sister Lioness and Lion Best Man had to play messenger.

As I heard a knock at the door, I realized I was apparently first. Lion Best Man entered, and knelt down beside me. I thought this was wonderfully gentlemanly, but really it’s probably just because he’s about three feet taller than I am and this is the only way photos would have worked.

I unwrapped the present to find a little gray box, which I recognized from the jeweler who made our wedding bands.

I then opened up that box to find delicate little diamond studs.

Though I didn’t wear those earrings on our wedding day, I think I’ve worn them every day since!

Sister Lioness then made her way over to the boys’ room.

Mr. Lion was pretty surprised when he discovered the novel of a card I had written to him.

Ha! That’s what you get for marrying a blogger!

Do you remember what I got him for his present? I said before that it was Yankees-themed, since he’s such a big Yankees fan and because I had to make up for the Red Sox garter that I’d be wearing.

I got him a baseball signed by Yankees closer Mariano Rivera. The ball was signed to commemorate his 500th save. Not only is Rivera Mr. Lion’s favorite player of all time, he wears the number 42, which is symbolic of our wedding date.

Now, I wasn’t there, but I’m guessing that’s a picture of him showing it off to his groomsmen.

We exchanged gifts - I got him an iPod touch that he had been wanting and he got me a beautiful Tiffany necklace. I’ve worn it everyday since we’ve been married. :) Almost 2 years now.

And as I’m reading this, Rivera JUST broke the record for saves! Good call Mrs. Lion!

Cool idea to make it more personalized (though I hate the Yankees).

Is it coincidence that you posted this on the day Mariano Rivera set the record for most saves ever? Or have you been saving it for this special day? :)

@therascalqueen: @MissCasey: I didn’t do it on purpose, but then I saw that on my Twitter feed and was like WHOA my Rivera post just went up! Ughhh maybe I should have written something about the Yankees losing if life was going to imitate art ;)
