Mrs. High Wire, Dallas Age and Occupation: 23, Legal Assistant Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Director of Communications Engagement Date: October 9, 2010 Wedding Date: September 2011 Venue: Clark Gardens About Me: My loves include yoga, anything spicy, our eccentric cat, our rambunctious dog, and Mr. High Wire, of course! Like the steadiness act of the tightrope walker, this gal is busy balancing life while planning a wedding to the man of her dreams. We’re hosting a laid-back, vintage-inspired, bird themed wedding with heavy doses of love, good eats (did someone say tacos and margaritas?), and endless Texas charm. Mr. High Wire and I are so happy to have you along for the walk across the tight rope.

You Can Find Me on the Dance Floor

September 20th, 2011 @ 12:05 pm by Mrs. High Wire

When I imagine our wedding reception, I can’t stop thinking about one blaring image: A sweaty bride breaking it down on the dance floor.

Some people sink their time and energy into a super unique and personalized ceremony. Others slave over DIY flowers because they are the only ones who can guarantee their vision for floral arrangements. Me? I just want to dance!

We’re doing a few of the usual reception traditions, (first dance, garter toss, bouquet toss) but made sure to leave multiple hours completely free so that everyone can boogie down on the dance floor.

This past weekend, I went ahead and created The Most Awesome Wedding Playlist of All Time.

Okay, that is probably a really bold statement. But, I am really excited to hear these songs on the wedding day. A big huge thank you to all of your amazing comments on my last post, regarding country music. It helped me so much!!

I sent this list off to the DJ this morning. They are organized by section and in order of most important to least important (Hello, my name is Type A, nice to meet you). We have more songs than time so some of these songs will have to be skipped. People will make requests, we’ll have to pause for announcements, etc. I’m okay with that.

I can’t believe you didn’t use a photo of me as the “sweatiest bride of all time” - in any case, I probably earned that title ;). My surefire-get-everyone-on-the-dance-floor-music list is: Living on a Prayer followed by Twist followed by Shout! Works every time!

I love love love that you have kevin folwer and aaron watson on your playlist! Our song is “next to heaven” by aaron watson and that will be our first dance. And FI knows Kevin Folwer (his stepdad and kevin are friends and Kevin use to play at his stepdads bday parties) so we will definately have some of his songs played too!!!

@soontobe_mrsSughrue: Awesome! You know, I think I also know some people who know Kevin Fowler and/or are related to him. Small world! (Or maybe he just has a huge family)

Yes! I am so with you on this. Every time I am at a bar and hear a song that I like I write it down in my Bbery notepad to make sure I put it on the list later for the DJ. Your playlist looks awesome and I am bookmarking this for when I make my own haha.

Holy cow. I just told our DJ “No rap.” And that was it. Maybe I’m a bad bride…

I have fond memories of dancing to most of your Top 40 songs. Pitbull’s ‘Give Me Everything’ was a hit, as was Party Rock Anthem. Holla!

Like VSQ much? Haha. Listening to them, might steal your idea for ceremony music. Our DJ actually provides us with a secure website to post music requests on (one for us and one for the guests). We also have the “do not play this song under any circumstances” option. I’m def going to use it because I keep hearing good songs on the radio while driving around town.
