I'm a lover of history, all seasons, sewing and Incubus. I design costumes on the side for my old high school's theatre department, which is where I met my sexy man. About Mrs. Zebra

“Trumpet Voluntary” … Purcel / Video via YouTube

With a few final ruffles of skirts and makeup checks it was time to begin the procession. The groomsmen had seated the guests prior to our entrance and were currently standing with Zeb at the front of the church.

We let the twins decide who they would walk down the aisle with, if at all. I was very flexible with them. I knew that there was a grand chance they would not walk down at all but was so happy when they slapped a smile on their faces and walked proudly by their mother’s side. There was definitely a bribe at work here but you’ll just have to wait and see what they got in return for being awesome.

“Bridal Chorus” …Wagner / Video via YouTube

It was our turn to walk down the aisle. I grabbed my father’s arm, he asked if I was ready, and we took our first steps towards the future.

Half way down the aisle, I could see Zeb waiting for me at the altar. The emotion of the day had absolutely caught up with me and my eyes welled with joyous tears. At that very moment, I came into Zeb’s view and BAM(!) our first look.

I told you a while back that we had chosen not to do a traditional first look. With our Catholic gap, I was able to schedule in plenty of time to take pictures together. I hear no matter what you choose, to first look or not to first look, you will love your choice. I loved our choice.

Suddenly we were at the end of the aisle and my father was placing my hand into my almost husband’s hand. I don’t care of the historical implications of this gesture in regards to our ceremony. Seeing my father’s face, knowing he was proud of my choice to marry Zeb was priceless.

Next up, our Catholic ceremony!

Aw! I love this - we will be doing the same thing - first look at the end of the aisle. And I’m with you on the father giving the bride away - I can’t wait for that moment!

One of my favorite moments in a wedding! I agree with you - whatever you choose (first look at the altar or before), you’re happiest with it.
