Miss Sweet Cream's Picture
Miss Sweet Cream, Philadelphia Age and Occupation: 26, Public Relations Account Manager Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Outside Sales Engagement Date: July 4, 2010 Wedding Date: October 2011 Venue: Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church / Rosebank Winery About Me: Born in the ‘burbs of Philly, it took some time living in the Big Apple to realize that I’m a girl who likes her roots. That’s why the mister and I bought a 1950s house on a charming street not too far from our childhood stompin’ grounds. This could also be the reason why our hometown is the scene where we are planning our super sweet, totally charming, BBQ-for-supper wedding that I never knew I always wanted. I DIE over DIY projects and live for vintage, heartfelt inspiration. I obsess over all things mid-century (from forks to furniture). Love is… cartoons and flea markets, and I am known to whip up a mean banana cream pie. I met the Mr. in grade school and after that boy took me for a spin on the handle bars of his BMX, I knew that things would never be the same again. Besides lovin’ my Mr., I also love to plan, sew and create, and that’s just what I’m doing as I navigate through the details, creating a laid-back day that oozes charm; one that will go down in (at least our) history as the Best. Day. Of all time.
About Miss Sweet Cream

I know that I talked about all sorts of aspects of the invitations. But now it’s time for the big reveal!

Before we get to that… I will tell you that Mr. Sweets helped me oh-so-very-much! Maybe other misters get into every aspect of planning. But Mr. Sweet Cream really only likes the parts that involve tools, food, and men’s attire…and of course, the honeymoon!

If it wasn’t for him, we would be left without adorable little wooden hearts that I could wood burn our initials into. Boy, I love that boy!

And if I wasn’t for these hearts, how could a girl explain spending hours watching guilty pleasures from the DVR like MTV’s Teen Mom or home improvement shows that make a few tears come out?

Those hearts not only made the invite—but they gave me an excuse for these sorts of things…but enough with the delay…As they say before the “big reveal…”

So here they are, hive!

Want a closer look? After carefully opening (or ripping open) the envelope, guests were treated to a fabric-banded, baker’s twine-tied, heart-adorned package.

After getting off the band, I know that a few tears were dropped from this beyond gorgeous Bob Marley quote.

Then they got the deets:

And then they got to mail it back to “The Soon-To-Be Mr. & Mrs. Sweets.” :)

I mixed in part Etsy designer with my own design of the quote, map, & packaging and think that it turned out perfect. Especially for the vibe of our laid back, BBQ reception.

Although I couldn’t wait to finish these bad boys… I do admit that I was kind of sad to see them go!

But almost immediately the RSVPs began appearing in my mailbox and I didn’t miss them so much anymore. But I sure do love them!

Did you DIY your invites? Did you buy invites from somewhere and add your own touches just because you couldn’t resist yourself?

These are amazing! I love the wooden hearts and the packaging with a quote on the cover - so clever! Our friend designed our invites, but I added things like envelope liner and ribbon belly band for my own touches.

Thanks, ladies!!! I couldn’t wait to show all of you!!!

@MySunshine - because of the bump, they wouldn’t be able to make it through the sorter and had to be hand-canceled. So it wasn’t the full price of two forever stamps (it was a couple cents shy) — but I just used the King & Queen stamps (1 of each) & it worked out. When I went to the post office for a test run of how much they would cost the lady asked if I needed the bump… and I said “heck yes I need that bump.” Once I whipped out the invites, she agreed! :)

They are beautiful, I absolutely love the grey. I have been looking for the right grey envelopes/paper forever.

You did an amazing job. This Bob Marley quote makes me tear up every time.

@Aardvark & Stallion - The major font is Budmo Jiggler font which slowly has made its way into every aspect of my life!!! I’m OBSESSED! :) You can get it free on DaFont.com… http://www.dafont.com/budmo-jiggler.font

@JessiTask - I don’t know if you found your grey stuff you need… but it took me a while to find mine! I wound up going with ActionEnvelope.com. They have a TON of different envelopes, papers, etc. in “smoke” which was perfect! Good luck in your hunt for the perfect shade!

@CurlyRN - I used 2 forever stamps (a King & a Queen), but I could’ve used a “forever” stamp and a president stamp. I had approximately 60 invites — so its not like my invites were in the triple digits, so I thought it was worth it!
