I have had some MAJOR setbacks regarding invitations.
OK, I lied. Kinda. It wasn’t so much a setback as a “let’s see how long we can put this off” situation. Sure, I bought a template from an online resource for cheap early in our planning. But at eight weeks out, I’d yet to do anything with it.
So I got down to business. And it turned out pretty bad. I realized that part of the copyrighted graphics weren’t completely within the print frame. Despite several emails to the company to have this fixed, with screen shots depicting exactly what I needed fixed, I never even got an acknowledgment, much less the fix. I finally decided to take matters into my own hands with things and found fonts that I loved. When I finally went to print everything, I realized the spacing was really wonky on a couple items.
Here’s an example of what I’m talking about. This would be the back of the reply card, and I was wanting the return address centered. The response I received when I asked about this was, “That’s how it’s supposed to look.”

I am pretty obsessive when it comes to spatial cognition, and this wasn’t OK by me. I had a momentary tizzy on the phone with my mom and realized that, even with using a template and semi-DIYing the invites, I was never going to get the perfection I wanted. We decided to start looking at already-made invitations. My first stop was Etsy.
I immediately was a little price-tag shocked. I suppose after my very brief encounter I can understand why invitations are so expensive, but shooowee. I sucked it up and found two options. The first was this baby:

It was simple and economical. I loved how the RSVP card was attached with a perforation, which would save on paper. But it wasn’t quite right.
Enter invitation option number two. It was PERFECT. But just in case, I sent both options to my mom. Within minutes, she called me gushing over invitation number two. Only there was a slight problem. By the time that I would get the sample, then edit a proof with the seller and have her ship the final product to me, we would be within a month of the wedding. Whoops. And we would be running into that no matter where we bought invitations.
So I contacted the seller, explained my issue, and decided that I’m going to take the chance on not seeing the sample and just start working on the proof. The seller and I were up until 11 PM (Right Coast time) that night emailing back and forth getting the design perfect. I couldn’t have asked for better customer service. I will have to pony up for expedited shipping, but I’m more than willing to pay for that considering the amazing help I’ve been getting from the seller. I’m keeping the invites hidden for now until they’re paid for and on my doorstep. I’m worried about jinxing the good juju I’ve got going on right now. Soon, though—very soon!
