Miss Fox's Picture
Miss Fox, Washington DC/Havre de Grace, MD Age and Occupation: 26, Massage Therapist Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Field Support Engineer Engagement Date: April 18, 2010 Wedding Date: June 2012 Venue: Vandiver Inn About Me: I’m a dancer turned massage therapist who was born and raised in New York. Alas, true love has brought me “south” where I still maintain my penchants for pretty shoes, wine, crossword puzzles, cherry blossoms, and the Mets. I own more sunglasses than a normal person should and don’t eat red meat (though I make up for it by eating my weight in sushi). I tend to be a big planner who likes to get things started early, but generally end up being indecisive and procrastinating when it comes down to it. I have a (not so) secret crush on Chris Carrabba, but my loyalty and love ultimately goes to the future hubs, of course! Together, my Foxy man and I love to discuss (read: debate) politics and current events, have Mario Kart and Scrabble duels, and just laugh. A lot. We’re hoping and planning for a laid back, fun, summery, rustic vibe to our June wedding that will be genuinely “us” – that is, if we finally make some decisions. Huzzah!

I Can’t Fight This Feeling Anymore…

September 23rd, 2011 @ 8:44 am by Miss Fox

…except I totally know what I’m fighting aiming for.

REO Speedwagon, anyone? No? Just me? Psh.

The long and short of it is that I keep getting asked what “kind” of wedding we’ll be having, what the “feel” of it will be.

And for a while I had no stinkin’ clue. I would ramble on and on about stuff no one but myself cares about, like how it will be a laid-back, kind of picnic-y, summery feel with a splash of sophistication here and there. Modern with a twist. Simple but classy, but more casual-classy. Etcetera and so forth.

Then I came across this wonderful little term: rustic chic. The beautiful thing about this current wedding buzzword is that it can be defined a million different ways and it encompasses a wide variety of ideas, themes, details, etc. In the wedding world, it seems like everyone and their mother is doing their own twist on this, but whatevs. I’m totally enamored.

I would write out my personal definition of rustic chic (and hence, our wedding), but it’s so much more fun to do it in an inspirational picture board, no?

Clearly, there will be LOTS of turquoise, and we’ll be adding accents of a light clementine orange here and there to complete the look. I just totally love the color combo!!

Le sigh. <3

Tell me, what is/was the “feel” of your wedding?

Oh, I love the rustic-chic.

For our snowy winter wedding, we’re going a little more classic, romantic, glam - but we’re incorporating some of the same details you’ve pictured here!

I love all these rustic-chic weddings :-) If we were having a spring/summer/fall wedding, this is what we’d be doing. For some reason, a winter wedding just feels more formal to me, so it didn’t feel right.

And, BTW, I’m dying over the polka dot finger nails in the first set of photos. I’m totally giving myself a manicure today and doing that!

I love that the colors you chose aren’t the colors one typically thinks of when they hear “rustic chic.” Or at least I don’t usually think of those colors. :) But I love them and I think you’re going to have an absolutely bee-utiful wedding!

We’re doing a variation of those colors — baby blue and burnt orange! I’m so excited to see more of your planning process!

I know what you mean about seeing the “rustic chic” style a lot in the wedding world, but unless guests are in the middle of planning a wedding themselves, I think all the ideas will look original and fresh to them!

I would tell people we were going for a “party like it’s 1999″ vibe. We just wanted good food, good music, lots of booze, and just a celebration with our nearest & dearest. :)

Aw, yeahhhh REO Speedwagon. I love love love your color combo! I had a hard time defining our “look” too, and I settled on vintage modern. But I’m not really sure it even achieves that. My maid of honor calls it vintage whimsical. I’m excited to see your rustic chic ideas!
