About Miss Aardvark

Shoe Saga 1

September 24th, 2011 @ 2:55 pm by Miss Aardvark

Let’s talk about wedding shoes. “But Ms. Aardvark!” you are thinking, “Do you have a dress yet? Why are we talking about shoes before you’ve even picked a dress!?” You are correct. I do not have a dress. I do have an idea about the dress but I have not tried anything on or purchased anything yet…hear me out. I would like to have my shoes by the time I start my whole dress hunt so that I will be able to know right off the bat how different lengths work, how easy it is to walk, etc.

I have not selected my official wedding shoes yet but, seeing as I am getting married in April, in the Midwest, I purchased a sassy little pair of lacy rain boots just in case! You will have to wait to see them though. I almost hope it rains a bit just so I can get some cute puddle pictures!

Now, as cute as those are they really wont cut it for the church ceremony, or dancing all night. So that brings us to our current situation. I originally wanted a closed-toed shoe. April will most likely be a bit chilly and I am a sucker for back seam stockings. Unfortunately I have fallen in love with a couple of great open-toed shoes. Let’s take a look:

Ah-mazing. Bridal and funky without being weird. I think they would be securely on all night for dancing and they are pretty reasonably price. I have another pair of shoes from this brand that I love. They are so comfortable and cute.

If I were to wear these they could be my something blue, they would save me the expense of shoes, and I know they are comfortable. However, I would be missing a HUGE opportunity to purchase some FANTASTIC shoes. Hmmm….

These take my breath away. They are less sassy but more classy and elegant and stunning. They are also Kate Spade and come with the Kate Spade price tag. Sigh…

Not impossible in my budget but it would for sure be a stretch… also dancing in these might be a challenge. What to do, what to do?

So, as it stands there are a couple of questions: do I buy new shoes or wear some great ones I have? Do I go for fun and flirty or classy and elegant? Or do I just order both and see which I like best?

Did you buy shoes before any other items?

I have already bought my wedding shoes- and like you I don’t have my wedding dress yet. I had the same mentality… If I have my shoes already I’ll know what length my dress needs to be and how easy it is to walk.

You can TOTALLY wear open toed shoes with stockings/tights - so as long as it’s not weird nude stockings w/ a reinforced toe…. i’m aware this does not make your choice easier :)

I bought my wedding shoes before I bought me dress. It worked out perfectly. I bought light pink glitter peep toe pumps and it was fab!

oh….and I think any opportunity to buy new shoes should be taken advantage of…..of course this is coming from a shoe addict. I have to use 2 closets for all my shoes.

I love those bluse shoes! I almost bought them, but ended up going with a pewter pair from Seychelles because I figured I’d get more wear out of them after the wedding. I’m excited to see which ones you go with!

So many cute options! I love the blue ones, but I’m a sucker for colored shoes :)

I’ve seen Balboa dancers in those same (seychelles) shoes so I can definitely say they are danceable! and I’ve seen them with seamed stockings and they look awesome.
( and I too love your taste in shoes)

Aris Allen has some similar shoes that are super comfortable to dance in- since they are dance shoes

I also bought mine before the dress, but I just knew I had to have them! I am from the midwest as well and love the idea of lace rain boots–just in case!

I did! I came across THE shoes at a great price, so I bought them on the spot. I figure now I can wear them while trying on dresses, then I will have the perfect shoes to go with the perfect dress! My shoes were my first wedding purchase.

I bought my ashoes first too! I had an idea of the dress I wanted and knew I was going tea length so I wanted to make sure I had ab fab shoes! The Seychelles *sigh* I almost bought those just because - even after I had my wedding shoes.

Not that I want it to rain on your wedding day but I would so love to see the rain boots :)

Those kate spades come in blue, too! I think those are the shoes that I’m going to get, and they’ll be my “something blue”. plus, i know i’ll never wear white shoes again, so it’d be great to get a pair that i will wear all of the time (post-wedding, of course).

I wore shoes I splurged on for my bday last year. Dance-tested and perfectly colored for my dress! I love your taste in shoes and can’t wait to see how this saga continues/ends. I’m a couple days behind in reading (as usual), so I’m willing myself not to fast forward, lol.

I have the same Seychelles blue shoes! I love them! I actually contemplated wearing them for the wedding too but ultimately decided to go for a new pair.
