Miss Doe's Picture
Miss Doe, Northern California Age and Occupation: 24, Real Estate Assistant Fiance's Age and Occupation: 23, Recycling Manager Engagement Date: December 25, 2010 Wedding Date: May 2012 Venue: Monte Verde Inn About Me: I’m a Rat Pack fan and a Christmas nut that loves to read, good wine, cheesy ’80s movies and ’90s sitcoms. My wiener dog with an attitude problem and lazy basset hound are my constant source of entertainment. He's a hunter and I like cooking so it's not rare to see wild game on our dinner menu. Both of us were born and raised in a small historic farming town where our feet are still firmly planted. We have been together for nearly a decade and have shared many life experiences together, including birthdays that are only one day apart. We are two old souls that are creating our long-awaited wedding with loads of tradition that blends our two styles into rustic elegance in the foothills of Northern California.
About Miss Doe

Almost A Decade

September 26th, 2011 @ 1:04 pm by Miss Doe

The story of how Mr. Buck and I met is fairly simple. My friend and his friend are twin brother and sister. Back in 2002 a big group of us went bowling together one day, and that is where our paths crossed. Our first words were super romantic. As a dramatic ’90s baby makin’ song came on the radio he said, “Oh yay, this is my favorite song.” I responded with confusion. “Oh really? That’s cool.” He responded back, “no, I’m kidding.” And that was that. I don’t think we spoke much the rest of the evening.

Okay so I may or may not have been exaggerating with our first words being romantic. They definitely were not. It did, however, give me insight into his dry sense of humor, which I love oh so much. If I could pinpoint one of the best things about our relationship, it is definitely the humor and laughter.

Approximately 1 month later he asked me out on a date. A real date, as in I had to borrow my best friend’s Abercrombie jean jacket and steal some of my mom’s expensive perfume. This was some serious stuff. We went to see what was apparently the only movie out at the time, The Scorpion King. To this day, I still have no idea what that movie is about. I obviously did not pay attention.

My mom picked us up in her mini van when the movie was over (both of us were too young to drive), and the rest is history. Months turned in to years and years have turned in to almost a decade. We both are different but we balance each other out.

Here was the first photo ever taken of us, back when we were young’uns.

We used to ride the bus, no parent rides lol.
I was 14 and he was 16 when we started dating. We’re getting married the day of our 9 year anniversary.

@Miss Honey: I know, it definitely was the cool thing to wear. Too bad they cost like 5 million dollars…that’s why I borrowed it haha.

I love this story! I’m also engaged to my high school sweetheart, although we didn’t go to school together, we’ve dated since I was 16 and he was 18.

What a great story!!
My fiance and I started dating in Nov. 2002. He was 15, and I was 14 (in 9th grade). We were engaged on 10/21/10 - almost a month before our 8 year anniversary! We are getting married 4/28/12. I can not believe we will be together for 9 and 1/2 years when we get married—crazy!!!! Isn’t it amazing how 10 years fly by and you are still crazy in love with your high school sweetheart??

we started “dating” when I was in 8th grade. whatever that means. he told me he liked me on a ferris wheel and I was just a little bit nervous to go out for pizza just the two of us. we were together all throughout high school, each went away to college and each studied abroad. we took a 10 month break and looking back i’m so thankful we did. once we reunited our relationship was new - more grown up, by choice not convenience or comfort. we’ve lived together now for about 1 year and half and on our 12th anniversary he proposed to me at sunset on the beach - ferris wheel in the background. it feels like we’re exactly where we’re supposed to be.

I definitely bought an Abercrombie Jean jacket my freshmen year of college, but never wore it since I could never find an outfit I liked it with.
