Nightmares

September 29th, 2011 @ 6:11 am by Miss Aardvark

Hive, I know I am not the only one to have wedding nightmares. I have read about them everywhere and even remember my step-mum telling me about a few she had years and years ago. I have had a few strange dreams about the wedding, don’t get me wrong, but until last night I don’t think any of them could be called nightmares.

Personal Photo (This is what I felt like upon waking up!)

I could tell you all of the horrific detail, from forgetting to hire a photographer, to no one wanting to come in and dance at the reception (apparently something was going on outside), to having lots of trouble keeping my shoes on, my teeth falling out! …
Folks, it was one thing after another. I was so relieved when I woke up to find it all a dream! But I did learn some important things about myself and my wedding fears.

I kept trying to smile though it, thinking, “Oh well, this will be a great story later.” or “Well, I’m sure lots of other people will have taken pictures” things like that. Which, I guess is good. Even in my subconscious state I did not break down into a raging wrathful evil bride.

There were also some good parts. At the very end, right before I woke up all of my roller derby friends showed up! It’s true, before the most recent move, I was a derby girl. I have missed them TONS since leaving town and was so happy they made it to my wedding! (Even if they were in full derby garb!)

The moral of the story is that it’s OK to stress about wedding planning. There is SO much to plan! Just try to keep it all in perspective and remember it’s about friend’s, family, and love, more than food, photography or dancing.

Have you had any wedding nightmares? How do you deal with the planning even taking hold of your sleep time?

Yes! So many wedding nightmares. I don’t know why, but I haven’t had any lately though. Maybe they get better closer to the wedding? Or maybe it’s the calm before the storm? I had a dream once that I went to pick up my dress on the day of the wedding, and it was a monstrosity. The owner of the shop said she ordered that one for me instead because she thought it would suit me better. Then we got to the venue and I realized I hadn’t done anything - like, booked a caterer, decorated, anything. Mr. Ladyfingers had a dream that our DJ only had 17 songs, and wouldn’t get anymore.

I had wedding nightmares before we were even engaged AND my teeth regularly fall out in my dreams too. Weird…

I had a crazy wedding dream just last night! Among the many crazy things that happened was the HORRIBLE location, no one knowing what to do, orange makeup, & other people walking down the aisle.
This is actually the second time I’ve dreamed that the location was horrible. I guess it’s because we are having a destination wedding and won’t see our ceremony location until a few days before it’s kinda freaking me out. Even though every single picture I’ve seen of the resort is amazing!

2 nights ago I woke both myself and my FI up because I was having a wedding nightmare about flowers and I woke up yelling at him about flowers! He was so confused as to why I was yelling at him about flowers in my sleep! I felt so bad the next day haha it was funny.

I have wedding nightmares all the time!!

I’ve also recently been having dreams about my friends getting engaged and a few where I attend a particular friend’s wedding. (She is already married, but in every dream I have her wedding is different.) Can any dream interpreters help me out with that one?!?!

@ TinyTina,

Maybe you are overwhelmed with all the wedding stlye options and choices that your brain is “testing them out” by seeing what they would look like for your friend’s wedding? Thats the best I can come up with :)

Oh man, I had some really bad wedding nightmares! Thankfully they let up as the wedding approached, but it didn’t help that I wasn’t getting more than a few hours of sleep every night. Boo!

I did have my first nightmare the other night. I kind of thought I wouldn’t have them. Silly me.
