About Me: I’m a Georgia peach born and raised in the dirty dirty. I love reading, baking lots of sweets and forcing them on my friends, and most of all, rock climbing. I am in the process of applying to graduate school in physical therapy and I work at farmers’ markets around town selling bread for a local bakery. The mister and I met while rock climbing just over two years ago and have been inseparable ever since. Our climbing friends mean the world to us and have played an integral role in our relationship. We’re planning a barnyard shindig filled with good food, good friends, and lots of love.
So now that I’ve left you in dire suspense, I think it’s time I share with you the final proofs that I got from Alison over at Orange81. Seriously, y’all, she was the best.

Miss Fox, Washington DC/Havre de Grace, MD
Age & Occupation: 26, Massage Therapist
Fiance’s Age & Occupation: 28, Field Support Engineer
Engagement Date: April 18, 2010
Wedding Date: June 2012
Venue: Vandiver Inn
About Me: I’m a dancer turned massage therapist who was born and raised in New York. Alas, true love has brought me “south” where I still maintain my penchants for pretty shoes, wine, crossword puzzles, cherry blossoms, and the Mets. I own more sunglasses than a normal person should and don’t eat red meat (though I make up for it by eating my weight in sushi). I tend to be a big planner who likes to get things started early, but generally end up being indecisive and procrastinating when it comes down to it. I have a (not so) secret crush on Chris Carrabba, but my loyalty and love ultimately goes to the future hubs, of course! Together, my Foxy man and I love to discuss (read: debate) politics and current events, have Mario Kart and Scrabble duels, and just laugh. A lot. We’re hoping and planning for a laid back, fun, summery, rustic vibe to our June wedding that will be genuinely “us” – that is, if we finally make some decisions. Huzzah!
Mrs. Jaguar, Sydney
Age and Occupation: 27, Primary School Teacher
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, IT Consultant
Engagement Date: August 8, 2009
Wedding Date: June 2011
Venue: Curzon Hall
About Me: I'm an Australian girl who is a self-proclaimed nerd, loves all things stationery and would be lost without books, music and the internet. Mr. Jaguar and I have been together for the past eight years and he finally popped the question last August. Hurrah! We currently live in Sydney, Australia with our adorable cat who thinks he's a person. We're a couple who likes to multi-task: we've been planning a wedding abroad, a permanent move from London to Sydney, and preparing to build our own home all at the same time. Travelling makes me giddy...as does Mr. Jaguar, of course!

If you happen to have some spare time during your reception, use it to steal away for a few minutes and take some time to yourselves. Some of the photographs we got from that super short session are my favourites of the evening. Sure, the rain had just stopped and my dress was getting saturated, but for those moments—none of those things mattered.
Before I get too far ahead of myself though, let me backtrack a little.

Age and Occupation: 23, Legal Assistant
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Director of Communications
Engagement Date: October 9, 2010
Wedding Date: September 2011
Venue: Clark Gardens
About Me: My loves include yoga, anything spicy, our eccentric cat, our rambunctious dog, and Mr. High Wire, of course! Like the steadiness act of the tightrope walker, this gal is busy balancing life while planning a wedding to the man of her dreams. We’re hosting a laid-back, vintage-inspired, bird themed wedding with heavy doses of love, good eats (did someone say tacos and margaritas?), and endless Texas charm. Mr. High Wire and I are so happy to have you along for the walk across the tight rope.
is impossible.
Not to give it away up front or anything, but it has been a real challenge attempting to find anything “beach-ey” this time of year for our upcoming honeymoon. It’s all sweaters and boots and pumpkins and squash and chili and…oh I’m sorry, we’re supposed to be talking about clothes here. My bad!
After scouring the mall and even going into one of those swimsuit stores (but I’m not dropping $200 on a swimsuit, not in a million years), I was feeling a little discouraged.
Mr. High Wire decided to take a solo shopping trip to Target and wound up scoring some massive loot! So I saddled up again and headed out for more shopping. Poor pitiful me, right?
Well, luckily, I wound up with similar amounts of good luck in the ladies section!

Mrs. Teacup, Santa Cruz
Age and Occupation: 34, Pharmaceutical Sales
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 41, Ditto! (For a different company)
Engagement Date: October 1, 2010
Wedding Date: October 2011
Venue: ceremony in our family's Catholic church in Watsonville; reception at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk
About Me: I’m learning to embrace my true spirit as GIRLY GIRL after previous careers in the Navy and consulting for the government. My favorite hobby is SLEEP, with dancing HULA a close second. An INTROVERT in extrovert clothing, I’m questing to UNDO 34 years of TYPE A conditioning. Constantly processing the details of our upcoming nuptials, peek into this late blooming bride & groom's roller coaster ride to the altar. Giant Dipper required, sold separately.
When super excited, I relax my Midwest sensibility and default to West Coast vernacular. Forgive me, but to properly start I can’t help saying…
DUDES!
The DIY project I’m about to share was hands down the most fun, affordable and quick to assemble. I’m talking about providing entertainment for the 20 or so children we expect as guests.
A few Bees from past generations shared their cute ideas for kiddie activity bags, including Mrs. Lox, Mrs. Toucan and Mrs. Martini. For ours, I’ll begin with the price.
I spent $34 to create 24 of these fun little surprises. Yay for the budget! No lie, each completed bag cost a whopping $1.41 each. That’s right, one dollar and forty-one cents. Can you even get a cup of Starbucks drip coffee for that price?

Easy peasy and cute to boot!

Miss Kettle, Chicago, IL
Age and Occupation: 26, Non-Profit Donor Resource Coordinator
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Musician & Teacher
Engagement Date: May 29, 2011
Wedding Date: February 2012
Venue: Patrick C. Haley Mansion, Joliet, IL
About Me: I'm a city girl who loves a good escape, so I'm planning a Chicago wedding outside of the city. I've been described as a quirky yet down-to-earth drama queen who loves fiercely. I used to be a scientist, but now I'm learning to navigate the world of non-profit organizations. I love cooking, blogging, shopping, and music, and movies (Hans Zimmer is my favorite movie composer). Mr. Kettle and I had a short courtship and now we have a happy home with our cat-who-thinks-she's-people, Belle. We spend our days and nights with good food, live music, video games, family, and friends. Our wedding has become this wonderful excuse to bring together hundreds of people we can't bear to be without.
Alternate Title: Be Still My Beating Heart
Mr. Kettle and I have been discussing on and off plans for our honeymoon. It’s been a pretty big deal in our house because our choice to go on a week-long honeymoon right after our wedding affected lots of other decisions in the rest of our life.
We want to do this honeymoon right. We want romance, relaxation, and a trip to somewhere that will be warm in February while also some place neither of us has visited. We’ve come up with Hawaii and Puerto Rico.
Seeing as how Mardi Gras is such an important day in the course of our relationship, I thought it would be fun to extend the honeymoon to include a stopover in New Orleans for the holiday.

That would mean a flight to an island the Monday after our wedding.

Miss Aardvark, Beaver Dam, WI
Age and Occupation: 23, Assistant Product Manager
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 31, Business Analyst
Engagement Date: May 28th, 2011
Wedding Date: April 2012
Venue: St. Philip Catholic Church/Arcadia Brewing Co.
About Me: I am a resourceful lady who love surprises and adventure. At the same time, I value traditions, family and friends. I like to make crafty messes, sometimes, clean them up, and do pretty much anything outdoors. The Mister and I are pretty avid cyclists---we have nine bikes in our home right now...and one motorcycle! We both enjoy eating food we can't pronounce (language doesn't really matter) and going places we've never been. We currently reside in rural Wisconsin, enjoying the cheese and beer it has to offer, and getting outside whenever we can!
By this point you may be thinking, “Miss Aardvark! We loved your cute stories about budding love, but this is not a biography! You said you were going to be talking about your wedding!” And you are right! Let’s take a break from all the “getting to know you” niceties and talk about the main event (or at least the kickoff to the main event, the wedding—the real main event being the marriage, of course).
When Mr. Aardvark and I first got engaged, and perhaps a little before that, we knew we wanted an inexpensive, simple wedding with our nearest and dearest around us. This is not what we had in mind:

Mrs. Waffle, Austin
Age and Occupation: 31, Costumer/Artist
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 33, Animator
Engagement Date: July 27, 2010
Wedding Date: June 2011
Venue: Hummingbird House
About Me: My life is pretty much spent in a sea of fabric, paint, sequins and drama. When I’m not working, I play on a trivia team, take Broadway dance classes, read, buy shoes, and occasionally geek out on video games. I am an American girl who loves all things British and Mr. Waffle is a Brit who loves all things American...I guess it was meant to be!
At one point, while I was getting my hair and makeup done, I heard rumbling and hushed conversations about rain and knew that Team Waffle had moved everything from the ceremony site to the tent. There was a brief sprinkling and the sun went back to shining, so the team moved everything back outside. It looked something like this.

Engagement Date: August 8, 2010
Wedding Date: March 2012
Venue: Riverdale Manor
About Me: I'm a born and bred New Yorker with a love/hate relationship for the city I have always called home. Although I may seem quiet from afar, I have a loud personality once you get to know me. I am a book nerd at heart, but love a night out in the city with good friends. I have a serious addiction to all things cheese, chocolate, cardigans, Mexican food, and reality TV. The future hubs and I met in college, settled in New York, and decided to go with a rustic/peacock infused wedding in Lancaster, PA, right near his hometown. Come the big day, we will be together 5 years, and we're looking forward to making it official!
Here’s a not-so-shocking secret about most New Yorkers: we are food SNOBS.

Ms. Ferris Wheel, San Francisco
Age and Occupation: 29, Psychologist
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Psychologist
Engagement Date: May 23 and 28, 2010 (one for each of us!)
Wedding Date: November 2011
Venue: Parc55 Hotel (city lights ceremony, ballroom reception)
About Me: Born in the Southeast, educated in the Northeast, and over-educated on the West Coast, I finally earned my city-girl credentials and have put down roots in gorgeous San Francisco. I’m a raging perfectionist with a lightning quick wit and a terrible sense of both time and direction. Our wedding task list is endlessly growing because of my predilection to think that DIY projects I can make = DIY projects I should make (so not true!). I always go to bed wishing there were more hours in the day to enjoy all the things I adore, whether that be hobbies, friends, my career, our two dogs, or Mr. Ferris Wheel. Ours is a story of a non-traditional couple living an oddly traditional life planning a not-so-traditional wedding in this city we adore. Together we are bustin’ out all of our best skills (and some of our worst ones) to plan a laid-back-chic DIY-craftastic love-alicious affair!
Last night I came home after a long day at work and I headed to the kitchen to get some water. I mindlessly opened the fridge, and this is the scene that greeted me. (Please, oh please, read on past the picture because this is seriously hilarious.)

Wedding Date: November 2011
Venue: Palma Sola Botanical Park
About Me: I hail from Oklahoma, he was born and raised in Long Island. Fate brought us together, and now we live in a cute little rental house with our nutty dog, and our aloof cat. We both love to read, watch movies, explore our town, and laugh like hyenas. When I’m not obsessively wedding crafting, I enjoy stalking style and decorating blogs, making collages and painting, napping, thrifting, rearranging our bookshelves, and being a total weirdo with my friends. Hi!
My shower was the beacon of hope at the end of my long, long week. With a weekend of hair and makeup trials and bridal showering, I just couldn’t lose. I got to BM Preggo’s house around 2 on Sunday, to find this beautiful spread, just for me.

They had put together cute little favor boxes with a pack of wildflower seeds, a vanilla sachet, a sleeping mask, and lots of candy. Mmm… candy. Which is currently stockpiled in my purse.

I have had some MAJOR setbacks regarding invitations.
OK, I lied. Kinda. It wasn’t so much a setback as a “let’s see how long we can put this off” situation. Sure, I bought a template from an online resource for cheap early in our planning. But at eight weeks out, I’d yet to do anything with it.
So I got down to business. And it turned out pretty bad. I realized that part of the copyrighted graphics weren’t completely within the print frame. Despite several emails to the company to have this fixed, with screen shots depicting exactly what I needed fixed, I never even got an acknowledgment, much less the fix. I finally decided to take matters into my own hands with things and found fonts that I loved. When I finally went to print everything, I realized the spacing was really wonky on a couple items.
Here’s an example of what I’m talking about. This would be the back of the reply card, and I was wanting the return address centered. The response I received when I asked about this was, “That’s how it’s supposed to look.”

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 30, Math Teacher and Football Coach
Engagement Date: Feb 13, 2010
Wedding Date: March 2012
Venue: Zama Beach Club, Isla Mujeres, Mexico
About Me: I am a polka-dot obsessed, destination wedding diva living and loving in the great state of Texas. I am an island girl at heart and I visit the beach as often as I can. I am a wannabe DIY goddess, but that doesn’t mean I won’t give it my best shot. I love pearl earrings, the color pink, and ruffles are a part of my everyday wardrobe. My wonderful fiance and I are planning a destination wedding with our closest family and friends and we’re leaving a trail of glitter in our path!
I have had a few people already ask me where we’re registered or if we have registered yet. With the wedding about 5 months away, showers, engagement parties and other fun stuff is right around the corner. I actually registered for some gifts online at Bed, Bath and Beyond, but there was something holding me back.
The place we are getting married is a beautiful, tropical island with endless turquoise waters and bottomless margaritas. It is also home to many people who live way below anything we would consider close to the poverty line. This past summer when we visited the island, I found an amazing organization called Peace Isla Mujeres. They do amazing things for schools, shelters and even animals on the island.

Mr. PF and I already live together and we have accumulated quite a bit of things in those couple of years. We have everything we could possibly need to (air quote) start our lives together.
I can’t help but think of all these amazing people we met this summer and how positive they are, even though they have nothing. I also can’t help but think of how much they need the money for medical supplies or books for their school. They need it more than we need a new toaster or another blender.
