Mrs. Lioness, Atlanta Age and Occupation: 25, Physical Therapist Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Attorney Engagement Date: August 29, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2011 Venue: Anthony’s Fine Dining About Me: I’m a Southern girl with New England roots. I say "wicked" and "y’all" in the same sentence and I like to drink sweet tea with my lobster. Mr. Lion and I are both former Floridians now living in Atlanta, which fortunately is still SEC country...Go Gators! We both love baseball, coffee, traveling, cooking, and playing Words with Friends with each other on our iPhones all day long. I’m very passionate about the things and the people I love, and I tend to plan things with all of my heart...our wedding, of course, is no different! Oh, and also Mr. Lion is a first generation American of Cuban descent. I may look more like Lucy than Ricky, but I’m doing my best to incorporate some Latin elements into our vintage-garden-Southern wedding!

Love is Where We Are: My Girls

September 21st, 2011 @ 10:36 am by Mrs. Lioness

The boys were all done with their photo shoot, and now it was our turn. Let me just say, posing for photos prior to your ceremony is one of the most awkward but hilarious parts of your day (the other awkward moments for me were the first dance and the cake cutting, but we’ll get to that later). At this point, guests were starting to arrive, and we were in a very visible location. It’s weird because you want to go say hello, but you also want to stay focused and present for the photographer! Additionally, eeeeveryone who sees you makes this guilty face like, “Oh crap! Was I not supposed to see this? Was I not supposed to see her until the ceremony?!” Um, no, doofus. Unless you’re the groom, I don’t care. Yes, awkward but hilarious.

Despite the awkwardness, posing with the girls was one of the first moments of the day that I was really looking forward to. I always love seeing each bee’s recap post that features “the girls’ shoot.” I couldn’t wait to create girls photos of my own. Plus, my girls looked gorgeous.

Mrs. Avocado’s Guide to Vienna

September 21st, 2011 @ 10:10 am by Mrs. Avocado

We recently took a trip to Europe and I wanted to share with the hive our favorite highlights from our time in Vienna. We were only there for a short time (one evening, one day, one morning) and so we didn’t experience much, but a little bit of research before we left ensured that we would love to go back and do it all again! Feel free to play the song below while you read this post. I don’t think the lyrics apply at all, but I had the line “Vienna waits for you” running through my head while I wrote this post. :)

We stayed at the Imlauer based on a recommendation from my father-in-law. Our room was much larger than what I had in Rome with my mom, and they had free internet, which is a must for me.

Mrs. Cucumber Sandwich, Washington, DC/Cape May, NJ Age and Occupation: 28, School Counselor Fiance's Age and Occupation: 40, Collegiate Athletics Engagement Date: March 27, 2010 Wedding Date: October 2011 Venue: Congress Hall Hotel About Me: I am a school counselor who spends my day wrangling children and my nights attempting to be creative with wedding projects. My enthusiasm for each of these activities far surpasses my skill. Thank goodness Mr. Cucumber Sandwich is there to pick up the pieces and be the voice of reason about my DIY tries. I have an obsession with terrible romantic comedies (‘From Justin to Kelly’ anyone?, anyone?!?), competitive Scrabble play, and hot dogs. I could eat astronaut ice cream for every meal and can’t seem to resist buying more shoes. Our wedding is going to be a true hodge podge of semi-destination, tradition, Yuengling, New England charm, with just a dash of ‘Jersey Shore’ thrown in. It has been six years in the making and I can’t wait to marry my best friend.

I Know My Calculus

September 21st, 2011 @ 9:46 am by Mrs. Cucumber Sandwich

… it says u + me = us! (please tell me someone else remembers that song)

Our RSVP date was this weekend so let’s bring on the numbers!

Total Guests Invited: 177

# of Yes: 95 (53%)

# of No: 33 (18%)

# missing: 52 (29%)

To be fair that is not 52 RSVP cards that we have to track down, it is more like 25 families/couples. I have a lot of phone calls to make but if I had to give my best, most educated guess…I believe we are going to have 120 people at the wedding. Perfection!

Since everyone is coming from out of town that statistic won’t really help you (100%). I could give you the break down of the Ms. Cucumber Sandwich RSVP response rate vs. Mr. Cucumber Sandwich RSVP response rate but that would just be cruel. Lets just say about 90% of the RSVPs missing belong to him. Oops, I guess I just let the cat out of the bag.

I don’t really have any pictures for this post but I did want to share some of the amazing advice we received from family and friends.

Here we are, 8 years later, living in Pittsburgh, planning a "homestination" wedding in the place our school romance began---Johnstown, PA. I thrive on talking a mile a minute, eating my weight in chocolate, and internet shopping. I love a lengthy to-do list almost as much as I love a healthy amount of chaos in my life. Mr. Snow Cone and I watch countless episodes of Friends and The West Wing on repeat, root for rival college sports teams, and make each other laugh each and every day. We’re putting together a small-town wedding with a big personality and a classically modern (or modernly classic?) look for 250 of our closest family and friends. It’s been 8+ years in the making, and sometimes I still can’t believe I’m finally getting to marry my high school sweetheart!

Officially Hitched: Boudoir gift

September 21st, 2011 @ 8:18 am by Mrs. Frog

So, in case you didn’t read my last post, I left off as I was about to discuss my gift for my husband-to-be.

Being incredibly modest, this gift was a pretty big leap for me. And it’s thanks to Weddingbee that I even knew what a boudoir session was!

Officially Hitched: Boudoir gift : wedding photography seattle Vickies Ha - right…

My first step was finding out if my photographer would be able to do this for me. There was no mention of it in her service list…luckily, she was willing to give it a shot. On one hand, being the guinea pig was exciting because we were able to make up the rules as we went along. On the other hand, it was a bit intimidating since there was no example to follow and well, I’d be in my skivvies.

Fat Guy in a Little Coat

September 21st, 2011 @ 6:20 am by Mrs. Skunk

Just about the same time that I met Mr. Skunk, I also bought a condo here in the city. As a matter of fact, I’m pretty sure one of our first dates was me making him help me move. In any case, I was ready to settle myself and my puppy down. The condo was a foreclosure in really good condition, and the first-time-home-buyer tax incentive was still in effect. The stars aligned and I found myself with 920 square feet to do whatever I wanted to.

That’s why the mister and I bought a 1950s house on a charming street not too far from our childhood stompin’ grounds. This could also be the reason why our hometown is the scene where we are planning our super sweet, totally charming, BBQ-for-supper wedding that I never knew I always wanted. I DIE over DIY projects and live for vintage, heartfelt inspiration. I obsess over all things mid-century (from forks to furniture). Love is… cartoons and flea markets, and I am known to whip up a mean banana cream pie. I met the Mr. in grade school and after that boy took me for a spin on the handle bars of his BMX, I knew that things would never be the same again. Besides lovin’ my Mr., I also love to plan, sew and create, and that’s just what I’m doing as I navigate through the details, creating a laid-back day that oozes charm; one that will go down in (at least our) history as the Best. Day. Of all time.
About Miss Sweet Cream

I know that I talked about all sorts of aspects of the invitations. But now it’s time for the big reveal!

Before we get to that… I will tell you that Mr. Sweets helped me oh-so-very-much! Maybe other misters get into every aspect of planning. But Mr. Sweet Cream really only likes the parts that involve tools, food, and men’s attire…and of course, the honeymoon!

Carousel Sighting

September 20th, 2011 @ 2:30 pm by Mrs. Avocado

I know it’s been a long time since you’ve seen my icon pop up, but I’ve got a crazy story that I just had to come back and share with you!

Back in March a writer getting married in Italy was announced. Miss Carousel, remember her? I know I was really excited to hear all about her wedding, and I decided to send her an email letting her know we would be coming to Italy to find out if she had any advice regarding where we should stay and what we should see. She didn’t just write back a few ideas—she composed an extensive spreadsheet brimming with resources and an itinerary complete with estimated costs!

I wrote back a BIG thank you, and asked a few more questions, but never heard back from her. I stop by Weddingbee every so often, and I noticed she wasn’t showing up here, either.
