Secret Single Behavior

October 2nd, 2011 @ 11:15 am by Mrs. Skunk

As y’all know, Mr. Skunk is still in Madison. This was the first weekend that, aside from work, I have nothing planned.

I’m taking full advantage of being alone, and so I’ve armed myself.

Wine and Blue Bell’s Pistachio Almond Ice Cream

Mr. Skunk doesn’t drink white wine. And I can eat as much ice cream as I want without feeling too guilty for not sharing.

Secret Single Behavior : wedding atlanta Falcons

And today, after work, I’ll be screaming like a banshee at my TV as the Falcons dominate the Seahawks. I’m super passionate about Falcons football, while Mr. Skunk could care less. I had access to two tickets to last year’s playoff game, and Mr. Skunk passed on his ticket while I went with a friend. He’s a little insane like that.

Do you take full advantage of nights alone? What are your secret single behaviors?

As cheesy as that is… I usually watch reruns of my fav movies or TV shows (right now I’m on a 7th heaven binge period), eat lotsa chocolate ice cream, and hang on the bee (esp. ringporn…). Sometimes I’ll make myself some sinfully sweet baklava (he hates sweets and chocolate… oh well) and have a lot of mac n cheese!

Most Fridays, the Mister works late or overnight shifts so my constant companions on those nights are Essie nail polish and Cupcake Vineyards Red Velvet wine. I usually polish and then drink and watch old movies.

Mmmmmmm, Blue Bell is the best! When Mr W was in LA for three months I took full advantage of having, what I called, a “Mediterranean Dinner”…cheese, bread, olives and wine. Also, a lot of guilty pleasure TV was happening! :)

Blue Bell is the best ice cream in the history of the world. I have a lofty goal of trying all the flavors before I croak :D

But to answer your question, oh yes I take advantage of nights alone! I paint my nails and watch bridal shows and indulge in way too much hot chocolate!

When Mr. Buck is out hunting and i’m having a night alone….typically I watch movies he never would want to watch….usually musicals. Grease, Newsies, and so on….or i’ll watch old sitcoms…Seinfeld, King of Queens, Full House, Saved By The Bell, Boy Meets World and so on…also accompanied by lots of wine. Those nights usually turn out pretty well! :) I haven’t had Blue Bell but from the sound of things I think I might need to?
@ms. headphone: Cupcake wine is the best! I have always wanted to try Cakebread wine but it is too dang expensive, so I have heard that Cupcake is the best and most affordable alternate to Cakebread. So good.

@Miss Doe: Girl, you’ve got to go get some now. It’s the best commercial ice cream out there. Fo’ sho. Strawberries and Homemade Vanilla also rocks my world.

I definitely watch girly shows that Foxy despises (The City, Bridezillas, etc).. and lately, getting a lot of wedding stuff done!

Vino and ice cream sounds like the PERFECT night. Kind of craving both right now, lol!

I’m currently starting up my Xbox to play hours and hours of Fable III, and I’m going to get the strawberry wine out soon. I miss DH, but it’s not bad to have a day at home alone occasionally.

@Miss Doe: Funny you should say that! Someone at a liquor store told me a couple of weeks ago that Cakebread was a company owned by a married couple. When they split, the ex-wife started Cupcake Vineyards and uses pretty much the same recipes as Cakebread but makes them much more affordable. I totally recommend the Red Velvet flavor. It was kind of hard to track down, but totally worth it and now our local Wal-Mart has started carrying it.

I’ve usually got a bottle of wine chilling in the fridge and some scary ghost/monster TV show or movie on the tv. Or I’ll enjoy some really girly time with wine, mani/pedis and a nice long hot bath.

Since me and the fiance don’t live together, my secret single behaviors are out of control - and will make all of you feel normal! Let’s see - take a bath with a TV show (preferably Arrested Development) playing on the laptop which is perched on the toilet. Exercising in the living room while singing songs at the same time? Yep - I do that. And don’t even get me started on my weird eating habits. Several years of living along and generally being lazy about cooking will do that to you! I think that my fiance has a lot of silly Secret Single Behaviors too - so I think some might actually survive after we’re married!

HA! And I thought I was the only one…I do this whenever my hubby plays ice hockey Friday and Tuesday nights- now I won’t feel so guilty about eating all the ice cream :)
