That ’70s Wedding

October 3rd, 2011 @ 6:20 am by Mrs. Sunhat

Miss Fox and I were recently on the same wavelength. She wrote this post about her parents’ wedding photos and as I read it, I had my parents’ wedding album spread out on the living room floor!

I was going through their wedding pictures trying to decide if I was going to use them in any way on our day. I’ve looked at their wedding photos many many times over the years, but I had completely forgotten an element of their wedding hits close to home as my life as a bee.

Sunhats!!! The bridesmaids wore sunhats!

Sorry for the wonky scanning job.

Perhaps this is where my love of hats came from! I honestly think if we were getting married in the spring, I’d be incorporating hats one way or another. It’s not the look I’d want for the wedding I’m planning now, but they would be fabulous!

Wanna see some more 1975 goodness?

My mom was a gorgeous bride.

My parents have been married for over 36 years and I am so grateful to have an amazing example to follow.

I love that my Weddingbee moniker not only represents myself quite well, but it also ties in with my parents’ own wedding!

MOB and I actually had some fun with hats just the other day.

Have you taken a look at any old wedding photos lately? Are you pulling any inspiration from them?

I love that you are Miss Sunhat and the bridesmaids had sunhats on!

Also, I love that photos from that timeframe have that certain ‘look’ to them that screams ’70’s!’. My mother’s wedding photos are the same way. I love looking at them - my father had an epic moustache and my mom had really long hair.

What a fun coincidence! And the hats in the last picture make you look royal-wedding ready!

Miss Sunhat, you look just like your mom! Looking at your parents wedding pictures it looks like you with darker hair! :-)

I love seeing vintage wedding pics!

I LOVE old wedding pictures! I notice that yellow was a very popular bridesmaid dress color in the 70s…so perfect that your mom’s girls wore sunhats! cute post!

I think my mother had the exact same dress and bridesmaid dresses - and my parents have also been married for 36 years! Gotta love that 70s style!

Whoa, it’s EXACTLY like looking at my parents’ wedding album!!
I mean, almost everything except 1) my mom’s huge glasses, 2) her brother walked her down the aisle, and 3) less BMs. They were married in ‘78.

my parents were married in 73 and her dress looks very similar to your moms - she also had the funky thick veil headpiece attachment thingy…what up with that? haha

The suits are what gets me the most - your dad is stylin, but my dad had on a baby blue suit with some paisley pattern on it.

Wow, that is almost identical to my parents’ 1970 wedding album. Same colors, similar styles, and yes….sunhats. Even the ceremony and posed shote looks similar! Very cute! We will be asking family and close friends for their wedding photos to display at the reception.

OMG…you surprise me all the time. Had no idea this was going to be one of your blogs! I didn’t even connect my sunhats to your moniker. Can’t wait for your children to comment on all the bee’s weddings back in the 2000’s!
