Alas, true love has brought me “south” where I still maintain my penchants for pretty shoes, wine, crossword puzzles, cherry blossoms, and the Mets. I own more sunglasses than a normal person should and don’t eat red meat (though I make up for it by eating my weight in sushi). I tend to be a big planner who likes to get things started early, but generally end up being indecisive and procrastinating when it comes down to it. I have a (not so) secret crush on Chris Carrabba, but my loyalty and love ultimately goes to the future hubs, of course! Together, my Foxy man and I love to discuss (read: debate) politics and current events, have Mario Kart and Scrabble duels, and just laugh. A lot. We’re hoping and planning for a laid back, fun, summery, rustic vibe to our June wedding that will be genuinely “us” – that is, if we finally make some decisions. Huzzah!
About Miss Fox

SHOE-Bee-Doo-Bee-Doo

OK. I need to get better with post titles.

In case you didn’t get it…this post is about shoes! Huzzah!

I’ve been poking around online as of late for viable wedding-shoe options. I’ve already decided that I really, really, really want turquoise shoes, a la our color palette. It’s our main wedding color for a reason…I have a minor obsession.

I have also realized that turquoise shoes? Are pretty rare. At least the *right* turquoise, anyway. I’d be OK with a pale pink shoe, but it would have to be pretty sassy if I went that route. (Honestly, it’d have to be sassy even if it was turquoise.) ‘Cause I’m a sassypants.

I would also prefer a closed-toe shoe, mostly because I hate my feet. Not like you need to hear it, but my toes are pretty blech from dancing my whole life on bare feet and in pointe shoes. A pedicure can’t save those babies. And I absolutely must have a few feet/shoe shots at the wedding…so I either need a kick-ass photographer who can avoid the toes, or a closed-toe shoe.

My preliminary search brought me to Zappos, where I actually found some good options. The first pair of turquoise beauts that caught my eye were these:

SHOE-Bee-Doo-Bee-Doo : wedding havre de grace shoes Carlos carlos

Carlos by Carlos Santana via Zappos

They are a touch bluer than I might be looking for, but you never know until you see the shoe in person. I actually have these exact shoes in a purplish color, and they are pretty comfy. The one con I can come up with (aside from the open-toe thing and possible wrong color…so really, the third con) is that it’s a 4.5-inch heel. I’m no stranger to sky-high heels, but that would put me in somewhere around the 6’2″ range…AKA, taller than Mr. Foxy. So those probably won’t work.

I think I just talked myself out of them. On to the next pair.

These turquoise shoes appear to be closer to the color I’m going for, and are a good blend of sassy and simple. Maybe a little too simple, though?

SHOE-Bee-Doo-Bee-Doo : wedding havre de grace shoes Rsvpja RSVP+Ja

RSVP Jaceline via Zappos

They are pretty cute. And wouldn’t overpower my dress. The peep toe seems minimal enough that I might be able to get away with them. But…they are also 4.5 inches tall. Meh.

And that’s it for turquoise options, at least from Zappos. Lame.

I did find this amazeballs pair of pinkish heels, though.

SHOE-Bee-Doo-Bee-Doo : wedding havre de grace shoes Ninane Nina+Ne

Nina Neva via Zappos

OK, yes, so there’s a peep toe. Come on, I’m not going to find adequate closed-toe shoes, let’s just face it. But I absolutely adore the design on the back of the shoe. It makes it classy and simple and not overpowering in the front, then va-va-voom look-at-me-I’m-gorgeous in the back. Plus, I think it might actually “flow” better with my dress, which is very…flowy. But they’re also 4.5 inches high. (WTF!?)

The next two I just think are fun. I would really prefer not to have white wedding shoes. I’m not a white-wedding-shoe type of person. But you can’t deny their cuteness:

SHOE-Bee-Doo-Bee-Doo : wedding havre de grace shoes Menbur Menbur+

Menbur Carmen via Zappos

SHOE-Bee-Doo-Bee-Doo : wedding havre de grace shoes Unliste Unliste

Unlisted Natural Glow via Zappos

That last pair is the only one listed at 3.5 inches instead of 4.5 inches. Personally, I think Zappos just had a bit too much to drink the night they wrote down heel heights, because I just refuse to believe all those shoes are 4.5 inches high. Refuse.

On the bright side, I can always buy a couple pairs and then return the ones I don’t want, free of charge. They even give you a year to return shoes if they were never worn…not like I need that much time, but it’s still good to know.

Where did you look for shoes? Did you do colored or did you stick with white/ivory?

You are too funny, Fox! When you kept complaining about the 4.5 inch heels, I was all, “Wait, is that too tall or too short?” That’s what I get for never wearing heels. BTW, I really like the Jaceline pair! They are so chic and pretty! And I love the color.

I am looking for turquoise shoes too! I also have a minor (major?) obsession. It has been quite the search thus far and I am considering DIY crystal shoes with turquoise crystals. Lots of shoes that I have found are either not the shade of blue I am looking for or too pricy. Excited to see what shoes you end up going with!!

I was completely determined for my wedding shoes to be my “something blue.”

Our wedding is not until May next year, but I got my shoes at the end of August at Aldo:

They are a dark blue, not turquoise like you wanted, but they also have a few pumps in turquoise.

I’m from Canada though, but they may ship to the states! Worth a look maybe! : )

I too had a a tricky time finding closed toe shoes… or closed enough….

these are fun but maybe not fancy enough … http://seychellesfootwear.com/seystart.tpl

Not sure if these have enough razzle dazzle, but they are closed toe and light pink:

(Do you see a trend? This brand is my new fave and very comfy)

Not sure how you feel about sparkles, but these are my wedding shoes (mine are green, not turquoise) and they are only 3 1/2 and pretty comfy. I think they run a bit small….

I got my shoes off of Amazon, bright pink and I love them. I didn’t realize until my dress fitting last week that they are 4.25″ high, probably one of the highest pairs I own but I love them. As much as I LOVE my pretty colorful shoes the Menbur Carmen you posted are amazing! Like I want them just to wear around the house… Oh and while my 4.25″ shoes don’t make me taller than Mr. Ticket, they sure put me closer which I love! For reference Mr. Ticket is 6′3″ and I’m 5′7″ so in my shoes there will only be a 3.75″ difference instead of the usual 8″!

@Mrs. Parasol: I’m normally around 5′8 or 5′9, so I’m a freaking amazon with 99% of my heels. Used to it, but don’t want to be freakishly tall either!
@jennyDtobe: Glad I’m not the only one obsessed, hah! I’ve debated the DIY crystal route.. let me know how it goes if you do it!
@mrsbowieii: I feel like I just noticed the Malibu color at DB.. is it new? I don’t know why I haven’t considered that option!
@Pittsburgher2: Thanks for the suggestion, those are super pretty! I’m not sure if the T strap matches the look I’m going for, though?
@Miss Ticket: I’d totally dance around in them too!

@Miss Fox: Well darn. I’m selling my shoes (At Tiffany’s from Hey Lady Shoes / aka. the Elopement Pumps from BHLDN) and if you had teeny feet like mine I was going to see if you were interested, since they fit what you’re looking for (3 inch heel, close toe, pretty turquoise/aqua color)

But, alas, you have giant feet, and I have midgie feet.

I’ll keep an eye out for shoes for you, though, now that I know what size to look for :D

Ugh, I’m having the same problem with the heel height situation. I can not find a damn cute shoe I like that is under 4 inches high!! WHYYYY?

I have an obsession with turqouise as well. I have a pair of turqouise pointy heels that I got years ago at Maurices, go figure. Can’t wait to see what sassy number you end up with!

Hi future Mrs’s. Since I am already a Mrs i thought Id recommend a website where I purchased alot of my wedding accessories.

http://www.idoweddingaccessories.net

I know you were looking for shoes but what about after the ceremony? I got the best flip flops on this site for the reception. It was a good thing I did because my feet needed them. Congrats to all!!

I love all your shoe options. I hope one of these works or you find exactly what you’re looking for. No white shoes for this no-white-dress bride!

I was mad searching zappos for wedding shoes up until a week ago.

See, I have this thing with shoes. I like them fine, but I’m a function over form person. I have fewer pairs than my man. And for the last…5? years, I’ve basically refused. REFUSED. to wear uncomfortable shoes. I buy Born. I buy Chacos. I buy Nike.

Oh, and I never learned how to walk in stiletoes.

However. I do like how heels make me look oh so nice in my dress…

I’ve landed on cowboy boots. Short, colorful ones. My wedding is outdoors, it could be muddy, and the reception is in a barn. In Pennsylvania, but still, a barn. It works for me. Cowboy Boots. Comfy Me. Tall Me. Done and done.
