About Mrs. Sunhat

Circle of Love

October 5th, 2011 @ 7:27 am by Mrs. Sunhat

Six to five months before our engagement, Mr. Ball Cap and I decided we should probably visit a jewelry store to educate ourselves about engagement rings and the styles we liked. We knew our first stop had to be Albert’s Diamond Jewelers.

Albert’s has been in business serving Northwest Indiana for over 100 years. Also, their local commercials crack us up! As soon as you walk in the door, they make you feel right at home and you aren’t pressured or hounded to buy. Our consultant, Emery, was awesome. I gave him an idea of what I liked and didn’t like in rings and he was great at steering us towards different styles based on our reactions to what he showed us.

My only firm criteria was that I wanted silver vs. gold and I disliked heart-shaped diamonds. I tended to favor a little more vintage look and didn’t want a super thin band. I got to try on a lot of different styles and I was surprised at how opinionated Mr. BC was about things!

After we left, we both felt there was no need to visit anywhere else. I told Mr. Ball Cap he was on his own from here on out and I wanted the final choice to be all his.

Ladies, he couldn’t have done a better job!

It is white gold with a round center diamond flanked by two princess cut diamonds and three channel set princess cut diamonds on either side. He even scored the wedding band with matching channel set stones. I never thought I could love a piece of jewelry so much!

Recently, we went and picked out his ring. We ended up with a Cobalt band in a satin finish. I thought it was the sexiest thing I had ever seen him wear when he tried it on. That simple band represents so much and it all sort of hit me to see it on his hand.

Did you let your partner make the final decision on your engagement ring or did you want complete control?

On my engagement ring he had total control! For our wedding rings, I imagine we will pick them out together!

I had no idea he was going to propose - we had never really talked about rings! He took my best friend to get approval though. Right after he popped the question he kept asking me if I liked the ring. It was so cute that he was so worried about it!

Beautiful rings! He did great!! I love the simplicity of his ring!

My FI picked out my e-ring all by himself. I had told him from the beginning that I wanted him to pick it out- I was alittle worried because he kept showing me pictures of rings he suppoably liked… thankfully he was just trying to freak me out. I love the actual ring he picked out!

I had no control. I didn’t even know he was going to propose. All he knew was i wanted a round center stone. He actually ended up giving me my grandmother’s ring so that was amazing!

I admit, I’m pretty picky, but I trust FI’s taste in jewelry (he’s done okay the past few years, after all). I did give him parameters but he picked it out. In the end, though, he wasn’t sure it was going to be “enough” for me, so I did go see it before he bought it just to reassure him :)

Gorgeous! That man did an awesome job. Foxy took one look at rings online and decided it was overwhelming, lol! So we went looking together, and it was ultimately my decision, but I definitely wanted him to like it, too!

Thanks for the ring porn! I had some input . . .I think I would rather have not had any, but she really wanted and felt she needed it as she knew nothing about diamonds or jewelry. Having input made me second guess my decision all the time, but that’s my own issue. I love that she cared enough to ask though. Funny bc I am in Indy right now on business and saw the awesome Albert’s billboards on my way over!!

I wanted him to choose. But, he basically got me to choose in a roundabout way.
