How THE Dress Became Just a Dress

October 6th, 2011 @ 6:51 am by Mrs. Raccoon

Or the story of how Crest whitening toothpaste, lab goggles, fish-boning tweezers, two socks, and wire cutters just weren’t enough.

(Is this Not the best in bridal beauty?)

I am afraid I overestimated my craftiness.

My goal was to make my old prom dress work.

I devoted days to hand-removing sequins and tiny glass beads, and chasing off the cat. Laddy GaGa was just a little too into my project, but don’t feel bad for him. He left me for his girlfriend every time a window opened.

After ripping some threads and holding my breath trying to do anything but rip others, I accepted that this project was officially out of my range.

The seams were no longer hitting me in the right places.

The cups were too small.

It still had too many layers of tulle.

I wanted more of my chest covered.

The boning needed to be moved.

I needed a zipper back turned into a corset back.

My list of alterations just kept growing and growing.

It became clear that the changes and cleaning could end up costing more than getting a new dress. So what did I do? I ordered a new dress.

So, if any of you plan on getting married or taking up pageants in the next few weeks, have I got a dress for you!

Has anyone else changed their dress plans along the way?
