About Mrs. Raccoon

In the Beginning…

October 7th, 2011 @ 3:11 pm by Mrs. Raccoon

…Miss Raccoon created an idea. Only this idea ended up not being an original and was not quite as phenomenal as the heavens and the earth. It was simple. It was the pencil skirt.

It seemed a little more natural.

Maybe even a little more rewearable.

I went there—rewearable. I’m not talking about the the Katherine Heigl 27 Dresses type of rewearable, either.

But don’t get too excited—the idea has already changed! While they say one person’s bridesmaids’ dress might be another’s Halloween costume, I’d rather not put us in that position. Bridesmaid Paws is one of three fantastic ladies who will be standing up with me. We’re all pretty, pretty fantastic, pretty individual, and pretty different sized and shaped. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Has anyone in the hive used pencil skirts or other nontraditional looks for their attendants?

I’ve always thought that was such a chic idea. Even if you’ve got a pencil skirt and a fitted top with a belt, you’ll probably look like you’re wearing a dress anyway, and you’ll probably pay less for it, too. I can’t wait to see what you ended up doing, though, pencil skirt or no!

Hmm, I have to say, I hadn’t thought about pencil skirts but these pictures are definitely making them a strong contender.

Never thought of this, but great idea! I love the first pic, with the big sash belts.. you’d almost never know it wasn’t its own dress!

I found a sundress I really liked and had a local seamstress make a copy in Organza and silk satin. They are gorgeous. Okay so.. I haven’t actually seen the final copy. But I really love them. I want one. My sizes range from size 2 to 24 and all 5 girls are happy about it. Plus with having them custom made the scoop neck line could be raised a little for the more modest. Dresses were such a headache for me… until I found the seamstress.

Ooh, I do love this look… especially because we are going with colored sashes. I almost wish that I saw this earlier! :)
