It Makes Me Sad in a Happy Way

October 10th, 2011 @ 6:14 am by Miss Fox

Mr. Foxy scored major awesome points in my book last Friday night.

See…I find ideas for wedding music daily. I have a whole playlist on iTunes called “Wedding Possibilities” that is full of songs I dream of using for our processional, recessional, first dance, whatever. Too many songs, honestly. I need more “moments” so I can have more songs.

Anyway. My teenage heart and I big puffy heart love Dashboard Confessional—always have, always will. One of my favorite lovey-dovey songs for the longest time has be “Stolen.”

Listen…now.

Ugh, I swoon. Love. Him. / Video via YouTube

It was my ringtone for Foxy for a while, too.

Well, my awesome fiancé always laughs at my one true love, Chris Carrabba. (I think he’s jealous.) When I first mentioned that “Stolen” would be perfect to play at some point during the wedding, he scoffed.

So I mentioned “Even Now,” which has currently become my number one first-dance-song pick.

I mean…come on.

Video via YouTube

One listen and I have tears in my eyes.

So Foxy and I go out to dinner on Friday and come home after a couple drinks, and I start fiddling with iTunes while he’s playing Call of Duty.

He randomly says, “Put on that Dashboard song.”

So I ask which one, to which he replies, “The one you really like. Cause it makes me sad in a happy way.”

I thought it was my new favorite, “Even Now,” but finally deduced that he meant “Stolen.”

So I play it, and he looks at me and says, “This should be our first-dance song.”

Wiggity what?! He likes it now??! Apparently.

Now I’m not promising anything, but this is a huge development. It’s very rare for him to have unsolicited opinions about wedding-related things this far out. I’m putting it in the “win” column. Especially because it involves Dashboard. Huzzah!

Anyone else have a significant other with a musical change of heart?

I love, love, love that song and Dashboard. Great choice for your first dance, esp. since it was your ringtone for Foxy! Very cute. I have horrible connections to pretty much all those songs, unfortunately, because I would listen to them when I was emo-ing out over some boy or another back in the day. haha, oh failed teenage romances…

I love that. . It makes me sad in a happy way!

I couldnt find the words to describe how I felt about the song we chose for our first dance but that is it.
We chose I will follow you into the dark by Death Cab for Cutie, when most people heard my choice they would always ask why but I think its a romantic song and now I can say it made me sad in a happy way!

congrats on finding your song, it will be special and probably make you cry, mine definitly did (tears as soon as I heard the first note )

HECK YES. I freaking love Dashboard Confessional. I swear, everytime an album comes out, it fits my life perfectly. I am SO EXCITED FOR YOU that this is a real possibility. LOOOOVE!

And also, you just might be my new favorite bee, secondary to the fact that you remind me of me. :-)

You are a girl after my own heart. I LOVE DC and Chris Carraba.

I also am wanting to use DC in our wedding music.

I love the covers of DC songs by Vitamin String Quartet. I would really like to work atleast one of them into our ceremony music.

Great song! My wedding isn’t until June but as of right now, our recessional (post-vows, leaving the ceremony) will be to “Stolen” by Dashboard, but an instrumental version played on the piano! I’m sooo psyched. Oh and I changed my mind a million times about this, but my bridesmaids are walking down the aisle to “Marry Me” by Train, played on the harp. GORG songs, both of them. Rock on Miss Fox!

Yes, if my fiance had his way, the only music out there would be what is played on the Sirus, the 80’s on 8 and the 90’s on 9. Out of the blue, he sends me the title of a indy group love song, Oh Darling by PLug in Radio….super cute song.
He said he heard it and just knew…I call him darling all the time

What a sweetie! And “Stolen” is a pretty awesome song, especially for a first dance. So romantic!
