After an absolutely whirlwind wedding weekend, we came to a screeching halt and jetted off to the most relaxing and rejuvenating week of our lives in Negril, Jamaica.
We splurged on a couple of first class tickets on our plane ride from Dallas to Montego Bay. It was worth every. single. penny. We sat in a mostly empty first class section in the front row. I could stick my legs out completely straight in front of me and not hit anything. It was even comfortable enough to nap! Which I definitely did, in between feedings. We were immediately presented with orange juice and/or Pepsi before take-off, then a generous helping of mixed warm assorted nuts, followed by a full meal of salad, tortellini, warm rolls, and red wine. Then they followed with a chocolate chip cookie of course! So yummy. I also did a little reading (The Hunger Games—go read it now, you won’t regret it) and a little movie watching. Then it was time to land!
There were the usual customs and immigration lines to get through, but it went very smoothly. We were sent to hang out at the Couples Lounge in the airport while they sorted everyone out who were staying at any local Couples Resorts and got everyone in their way to their respective destinations. We hopped on the bus to Couples Negril, and were on our way.
The bus ride was a little more cramped than our roomy first class plane ride, but the driver kept us entertained with tidbits about the cities as we drove through them as well as Jamaica trivia as a whole.

After another nap (of which I probably took a total of 50 during our honeymoon), we had arrived at our beautiful resort! We heard a brief orientation and made sure to identify that our bags had arrived. We were not allowed to carry our bags, however, since we were on vacation and couldn’t be tasked with a duty such as that (at least that’s what they told us!). A few minutes later, we had arrived at our building and were taken to our room.

The beautiful wall tapestry in our room
As soon as we arrived at our room, I did my usual of opening every single drawer and investigating the room from top to bottom. Anyone else do that? I just want to make sure I know what kinds of goodies are at our disposal. I found two robes (SCORE! I’ve never been in a room with robes before), some bug spray, a giant umbrella, and a stocked mini bar. A total jackpot.
We settled in, and then it rained for most of the afternoon. No problem with me! It made for a prime napping environment in the room.
The next day, we started our “routines” for the next three days. Wake up, eat breakfast (I ate breakfast alone daily, Mr. HW would always rather sleep in and I refuse to miss free breakfast buffet), and figure out the most comfortable spot to lounge depending on where the sun was in the sky.

There were locals on the beach who would sing and play soft music while you improved your tan. Absolute heaven!

And we did A LOT of this:

We were full-time, state of the art loungers. It was epic. I’m not sure if I’ve ever really chatted about this, but Mr. HW and I are really energetic people. We keep a full schedule of social activities and house projects and are always on the go. ALWAYS. And we like it that way, honestly. I’m definitely not complaining. It was a complete break from the norm to be doing absolutely nothing for so many days on end. I read THREE whole books for God’s sake. It was insanely special and different. Oh and for realz, go read the Hunger Games. You’ll be a better person afterward.
Some more sights from the beach:

There was also a nude section of beach at our resort. As in, 100% nude. No clothing allowed, whatsoever. It had its own hot tub, bar, wait staff, and plenty of lounge chairs with rafts to relax on, or you could go take a nude swim in the ocean. If you are curious, yes, we spent time there. And it was a huge improvement over having to lay around in a wet swimsuit all day, to be honest. And it wasn’t really that odd, because, well, everyone else was just as naked as we were. The resort did a really good job of keeping it private with extra shrubbery, plants and trees surrounding the section and within the beach area itself. It felt very secluded and private. No pictures of this section, since cameras were completely off limits in this section, not surprisingly.
Anyway, back at the regular beach:

I was completely unprepared about how different of a vacation you can have when there are no kids, teenagers, or creepy single dudes around. Everywhere we went was quiet and clean and calm and relaxing. Everywhere. It also helped to have the most accommodating staff. There were no rules or requirements or pushy people anywhere. It was amazing.
Have you ever stayed at an all-inclusive-adults only-couples only resort? Where did you stay? If you haven’t, you should.
