To recap, we had struck out with our initial venue search, but I then discovered an appreciation for all-inclusive packages that opened up a few more options for us.
Among these options was a little place called Historic Cedarwood.

How did I feel when we found Cedarwood? This sums it up pretty well:
“You know the feeling when it’s the bottom of the ninth, the bases are loaded, and you know the next one’s coming right down the middle. And then, you just connect…and for an instant, you know that it’s going over the fence and out of the park…and further than you could ever imagine.” – Steve Guttenberg, It Takes Two
Yes, I did just use a line from an Olsen twins movie to express my love for our venue (and no, that will not be the last time I quote It Takes Two).

But seriously, this venue is perfect! The Cedarwood website describes it as “Rustic Luxe” and “Southern Chic” and instructs you to “imagine a relaxed, tranquil gathering amidst the splendor of summer blooms and butterflies in the wildflower meadow…”

Cedarwood features a historic house that has a room for the buffet to be set up, a room for the cake (yes, there is an entire room for guests to walk through and admire the cake), a caterer’s kitchen, and the most beautiful bridal suite I have ever laid eyes on. Granted, I haven’t laid eyes on too many bridal suites, but this would be pretty hard to beat:

There is also a carriage house with a pimped out groom’s area, so Mr. Dalmatian will be a happy dog. Our ceremony will be in the courtyard, which is enclosed by a white picket fence that makes my heart melt, and the reception will be on the covered stone patio.

The icing on the cake (sorry, I couldn’t think of a baseball metaphor) is that there is a barn! An awesome, classic, rustic, red barn that will be the perfect backdrop for photos and can be seen from both our ceremony and reception sites.

I love our venue so much I wish I could move in. Well, maybe not move in because I am actually a pretty big fan of our little apartment—but I could definitely spend a few weekends there. I guess just one rather important weekend will have to do!
