That Really Takes the Cupcake

October 11th, 2011 @ 6:57 am by Mrs. Raccoon

Each time I visit Mr. Raccoon in Nashville, we’re sure to stop by a little place called Gigi’s Cupcakes. Kentucky bourbon pie is Mr. Raccoon’s favorite, and I really like their champagne cupcake.

If you ever get the chance, give them a swirl. You definitely won’t regret it! Each kind they make is beautiful, delicious, and giant! We always comment about how perfect they would be for a wedding. I was sharing my enthusiasm for these creations over dinner with a friend the other night when she pointed across the parking lot. There’s a Gigi’s in Indianapolis! We’re definitely going to look into this!

Just to get an idea, this is a display of their wedding cake flavor.

Is anyone else thinking of using cupcakes? Brides who decided to go with cupcakes, please tell me about it!

Those cupcakes looks AMAZING! I love cupcakes, but we aren’t doing them at the wedding. I think they look so neat though when brides do that.

We are! We found this amazing baker who also does huge, really delicious cupcakes in a bazillion flavors - pink champagne, creme de menthe, vanilla bourbon, cherry coke, etc. We’re so excited! Also, she’s just starting out so we’re getting a ton of cupcakes, the cupcake stand (on loan) and a small cut cake for way cheaper than most cakes are. Can’t wait to hear how yours turn out!! =)

I’m not a big Gigi’s fan. I feel like they use too much frosting. You should try the Cupcake Collection on 6th Ave (or catch their mobile school bus around town).

We had a big table with 3 different flavors of cupcakes on several cake stands. Everyone loved it and it looked amazing!

We did cupcakes and I loved it, our only problem was that guests helped themselves before we had a chance to cut our cake (we had a small 6.5″ cake so we could mix the traditional in with the more modern cupcakes) and that bummed me out. Make sure it is clear for guests or have someone guarding them lol.

We are doing cupcakes and/or a dessert bar. I wondered how you avoid getting helping them selves before hand.

We’re having cupcakes too! We’ll have the cupcake tower, with a small cake on top to cut for the photo op. Those Gigi cupcakes do look delicious. Champagne flavor? YES.

Oh my goodness, I just freaked out a little bit (okay a lot) when I read your post! As a Nashviliian, I am OBSESSED with Gigi’s! We went to Vanderbilt, which is in walking distance of the original Gigi’s (so very dangerous). My sister, Mr. Dalmatian and I actually got Gigi’s to celebrate me becoming a bee! I got the White Chocolate Midnight because it is white with chocolate chips and looks like a dalmatian :)

You should definitely get them for your wedding! They are seriously the most delicious cupcakes ever.

@JD193: @JD193: Delicious flavors and they cost less? That’s an all around win!

@julia924: @CurlyRN: Oh no! I hadn’t thought about people getting into them early. I guess they are pretty hard to resist! I was going to make a sign describing the flavors to set on the table. Maybe I’ll include a line at the top about it.

These look delicious! I am definitely a fan of tonnages of frosting… no problem there! We are doing cupcakes at our wedding, but we are going to do a combination of cupcakes, cookies and mini-tart type things. I love cupcakes, he loves cookies and to spice it up we’re having mini cheesecakes and things (my sister’s doing the baking). I asked my dad if he’ll make a cupcake stand out of thin slices of a tree trunk because it’d fit our rustic feel…

We had 5 different flavored cupcakes. The cupcake table was amazing. We had 140 cupcakes spread out on 7 or 8 different beautiful cake stands and one three-tiered stand all placed at different levels. I was so thrilled and people told me how much they loved it since they got to pick their own flavors and have several different kinds. And like others said, it was much cheaper than cake.

We’re doing cupcakes but haven’t picked a baker. I need some inspiration, too!
