Miss Fox's Picture
Miss Fox, Washington DC/Havre de Grace, MD Age and Occupation: 26, Massage Therapist Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Field Support Engineer Engagement Date: April 18, 2010 Wedding Date: June 2012 Venue: Vandiver Inn About Me: I’m a dancer turned massage therapist who was born and raised in New York. Alas, true love has brought me “south” where I still maintain my penchants for pretty shoes, wine, crossword puzzles, cherry blossoms, and the Mets. I own more sunglasses than a normal person should and don’t eat red meat (though I make up for it by eating my weight in sushi). I tend to be a big planner who likes to get things started early, but generally end up being indecisive and procrastinating when it comes down to it. I have a (not so) secret crush on Chris Carrabba, but my loyalty and love ultimately goes to the future hubs, of course! Together, my Foxy man and I love to discuss (read: debate) politics and current events, have Mario Kart and Scrabble duels, and just laugh. A lot. We’re hoping and planning for a laid back, fun, summery, rustic vibe to our June wedding that will be genuinely “us” – that is, if we finally make some decisions. Huzzah!
About Miss Fox

Let’s veer back to music. It’s an essential part of any wedding day, yes? It can really set the tone for the ceremony, reception, etc…from the processional to the recessional to the first dance to the last song, and everything in between.

I kind of wish we could do, like, 27 first dances so we could use every song that’s in our “Wedding Possibilities” playlist right now. Sure, “Stolen is always a possibility, but there are SO MANY other beautiful, perfect songs out there as well.

I discovered a lot of the songs that I’m loving right now thanks to TV and movie soundtracks. In fact, Mr. Foxy and I were watching Juno for the eleventy-billionth (not exaggerating) time a few months ago…you know the opening scene, with the credits and cartoon? The song that plays during it…I’m obsessed.

We need this at our wedding.

Somewhere in the ceremony. I know it sounds a little hokey with the harmonica and all, but I have a little trick up my sleeve and some family connections. It just so happens that my step dad and step brother are amazing musicians—the former sings and plays almost everything, and that latter is actually in a semi-popular up and coming band. I’m thinking that between the two, they can mix it up a bit so it works really beautifully as a processional song for the guys/girls/me/someone.

I just totally dig the lyrics and think it could be cute, to boot.

And if Mr. Foxy didn’t hate the following song so much, we’d totally use this as the processional instead and just dance down the aisle a la Michael Scott at Pam and Jim’s wedding:

Loving!

Where did you get your music inspiration from?

That is so funny! I got married on 9/3/11 and we actually walked down the isle to somewhere over the rainbow, and as we walked down the isle as husband and wife we played “all I want is you”. Our guest got a huge kick out of it and everyone started laughing. It was actually wonderful!

I’m thinking about All I Want is You as our recessional. Not sure if the mister is down yet, though. :)

I was lucky enough to be blessed with very talented musicians in my family/friends too, I had my friend and cousin play guitar and sing “marry me” for the processional and for a lighter kick they sang “I wanna grow old with you” by adam sandler for the recessional and everyone started giggling. : )

our first dance was to the song from Juno. it was awesome. We are not dancy types, but we had friends that are dance instructors and they worked out a whole 2-step for that song and we definately surprised everyone. Plus, its just such a fun song. Sol glad you posted it here. :)

This has been our top choice for our first dance, but have been hesitant since it’s not really slow or “sway-y”. We don’t need something super slow and romantic (not us), but want to be able to have dance to it. Thank you Haylee for the Tristan Prettyman suggestion - I just downloaded it and think we have our first song! The lyrics are so “us” and it’s a song we both love.
