When I began pondering the colors, theme, and feel of our wedding, there were a lot of thoughts bouncing around in my head. Let’s start with colors. I considered pink and navy, then pink and teal, then pink and chocolate, then pink and light blue, then pink and green. Notice a pattern? My love for pink gives Elle Woods a run for her money!

As a true addict, I like every shade from dusty rose to fuchsia. So when it came to the wedding, my pink obsession was pulling me in two different directions. I love the delicate, dreamy aura of pale pink surrounded by soft neutrals.

At the same time, when I see a nice bright pink I can’t help but fall head over heels!

When I asked Mr. Dalmatian what he thought (yes, I am cruel and forced my very patient fiance to discuss which shade of pink he likes best), he said that he wanted the wedding to be bright and happy. Bright pink it is! Then he said it was silly that we had to pick a color scheme, and that we should just use every color we like.
Being the well-trained bride-to-be that I am, my first thought was, “No color scheme?! How will we make sure things go together?” But as I began to contemplate the idea, images of colorful floral patterns and limitless designs swarmed into my mind and we came to the conclusion that having a color scheme of “bright and happy” was perfect.
So, there will definitely still be bright pink. There will also be light pink, blues, greens, yellows and even reds if we’re feeling a little crazy!
Like a true color scheme, a distinct theme will also be lacking, so let’s skip right to the feel of our wedding. Again, my natural instincts were pulling me in two different directions. The barn-loving, cowboy boot-wearing, Anthropologie-loving girl in me was drawn to an offbeat rustic style like this:

But there is also a side of me that loves crisp lines and tight bows and was drawn to a more traditional style (this is the direction Mr. Dalmatian leans toward as well):

So, what’s a girl to do? Pick one style and abandon the other? I think not. Instead, we decided on a theme where we get the best of both worlds (cue Hannah Montana music). I introduce to you the theme of our wedding: clean-cut vintage! Pardon my excitement over a just a few silly words, but once this phrase popped into my head I became obsessed. It captures exactly what we are going for, and has already come in handy when vendors have asked about our style.
Now, I never knew what an inspiration board was before I started wedding planning, but as soon as I learned of them, I was hooked! If a picture is worth a thousand words, an inspiration board is worth…well, a million words!
So here is our bright and happy, clean-cut vintage inspiration board:
