About Mrs. Cinnamon Bun

Bachelor/ette

October 13th, 2011 @ 10:04 am by Mrs. Cinnamon Bun

At one point I wrote a pity-party post about not getting a bachelorette, even though I didn’t want to walk around town at night wearing a penis necklace.

Well, that all changed! My girls treated me to a lovely day just a few days before the wedding that was just right for me. It was the Wednesday before our Saturday wedding, and the day started with all of us driving to my coworker R’s house so I could try on my dress after the alterations! When I ordered the dress I was exactly between waist sizes (the only measurement that would affect my dress—the hips were free and even the smallest bust size available would need taking in), and I went with the larger size because it’s easier to take in than let out. It meant that the whole dress ended up being pretty big on me. Could I have gone with one size smaller? Probably, but I’m glad I didn’t risk it, especially when I have many friends who sew for a living. :)

The dress was perfect, apart from the bust still being a little big. R said she’d sew a different pair of cups in to the top and drop it off at my house later that day. Awesome!

Then the girls and I drove back to my house, and we started our day. The three of us went and got mani/pedis together, and it was such a wonderful, relaxing experience. We hung out and chatted while our hands and feet were pampered—what could be better? They hadn’t made reservations anywhere for dinner after, so we could choose what we felt like right then. On the suggestion of one of the nail ladies, we went for fondue. YUM. This is the only picture from our day, and it makes me hungry just looking at it:

We got the cheese fondue with just about everything they offered to dip in it, and a nice bottle of wine.

After that we weren’t sure what to do, so we decided to head back to my house (we walked from my house to the nail place, and this place was on our way home!) and watch a movie. We ended up watching Whip It, which makes me want to go join a roller-derby team even though I’m sure I’d get pummeled and cry at my first practice.

All in all, it was low-key and there were no penis necklaces or dancing on tables, yay!

Cinnamon Buns had his bachelor party the day before—he went out to lunch at a new place that just opened by us that has 100-plus beers on tap, then over to the local gaming store for a new board game courtesy of Groomsman L, then off to Groomsman E’s house to kill some tabletop monsters with a bunch of the boys.

Was your bachelor/ette tailored just for you? Are you a penis-necklace person? Am I going to get a lot of weird Google hits now that I’ve written that phrase so many times?

No penis for me. Personally, it’s not my style, and it can be tacky and crude. I would much prefer a nice day out with my girlfriends as well.

I told my girls that I would be open to wearing almost anything but don’t even think about getting me an exotic dancer!

Sounds like my kind of party! Also you should totally find a roller derby team because it is SO much fun! And a really killer workout (hello thighs!) Also most teams today don’t play on a banked track like in the movie… flat track is way easier to skate!

Yay that Mr. CB is a gamer! I think my bachelorette party is going to be a weekend long excursion of me and my game friends to GenCon Indy where I’ll where a mini veil and maybe a “Bachelorette” sash and live it up as a female gamer in Game HEAVEN! :) Wooooohooooo!

\My BMs keep asking me what I want to do for my Bacherlorette/Hen do, but I have no idea.

My only stipulation is no strippers, no penises. I was more paranoid about penis straws and penis cakes than necklaces tho.

I can’t stop laughing at the google hits possibility! No penis paraphernalia AND fondue? Sounds perfect to me!
