Mrs. Parasol's Picture
Mrs. Parasol, San Ramon, California Age and Occupation: 25, Non-profit writer, editor, and blogger Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Law school student Engagement Date: December 19th, 2010 Wedding Date: September 2011 Venue: Bent Creek Winery (Livermore, California); Reception: Family Residence (San Ramon, California) About Me: I am a California girl at heart. I love the outdoors, sunny days at the beach, and hiking in the woods and mountains. I also love good books and am fresh from completing my Master's degree in English and Comparative Literature in New York City. Living in NYC was an amazing experience, and while I'm glad to be back on the West Coast, I'm also thankful that my two years back East gave me an opportunity to explore new places, make new friends, and indulge my passion for Broadway shows. Oh, and I received a pretty awesome proposal from Mr. Parasol in Central Park. Above all else, Mr. Parasol is my biggest cheerleader and my best friend. But even though I'm thrilled to be marrying him, I wasn't always totally on board with this whole wedding thing and at first, I wanted to run off and elope. I've finally been convinced to throw the wedding I never thought I wanted, and so now I'm busy planning an intimate September wedding filled with DIY details. Along the way, I'm slowly learning to appreciate, perhaps even love the wedding planning process.

OMG! We Have a Wedding Video!

October 14th, 2011 @ 5:13 pm by Mrs. Parasol

Hive, I am so excited to share this with you today! We have a wedding video! And it’s amazing! I’ve already watched it about a million times.

A&J: Vintage Wedding from Sarah Gerber on Vimeo

Swoon. I love this video so much!

So here’s the story behind the video:

Some of you may remember that, due to financial reasons, Mr. Parasol and I decided against professional videography for our wedding. I sound kind of “whatever” about wedding videography in that post, and that’s honestly how I felt at the time.

But then I started seeing all these awesome wedding videos around the hive (like Mrs. Panther’s), and I finally understood what the big deal was about wedding videos (they’re amazing!). Which made me feel pretty bummed out that we would never have one.

Enter my friend Sarah, one of my oldest childhood friends and owner of TwentyTwenty Studios. Unbeknownst to me, Sarah filmed a large chunk of our reception on her iPhone and then surprised me with this video as a wedding gift! I had no idea she was filming the entire night or that she was going to make something so amazing. Needless to say, I was over-the-moon ecstatic when she sent me this video!

I’m still in awe of what she was able to create, and Mr. Parasol and I are so grateful to have such a beautiful keepsake of our wedding day.

Perfection. Simply stunning, Parasol. I’ve loved your blogging and have identified with you in so many ways. This truly is just…beautiful. Tears to my eyes!

Incredible gift of your friend. I can’t believe that was shot with a phone! Great editing skills, too.

Just beautiful.

@Guest123: Awww, thank you so much for your kind words! I feel so honored to be able to share my wedding journey here on the bee, and it warms my heart to know that others have connected with and related to my experiences. That’s the best you can hope for as a blogger! :)
@Miss Magic: Thanks so much, pretty lady! And our wedding was a total blast. I kind of want to relive it all over again–without the planning, though. If only!
@LongDistancePlanning: I know! It’s amazing to have friends celebrate with you on your special day, but this was definitely beyond my wildest expectations!
@Miss Petit Four: Me too! I seriously think I watched it 10 times the day my friend sent it to me. I just could not get enough!

@Future Army Wife: Thanks! I think she used the 8mm ap, which is awesome. I love the old-fashioned feel to it–and I still can’t believe she did it on an iPhone! I think I have to get myself one of those soon…..
@chesseplease: You’re so sweet! It’s so nice to have something that really captures our day and makes me feel like I’m actually there again.
@Mrs. Pony: Thanks, P! I know–she’s constantly blowing me away with her talent! I’m very lucky. :)
@hisbahamamama: Well, if you have friends with an iPhone, perhaps you can talk them into doing something like this! I hear you on the budget thing, though. Once I discovered how awesome wedding videos are, I really wanted to hire a professional team to shoot our entire day, but we just couldn’t swing it. Which is why I’m so thankful we have this!

@Miss Raccoon: Thanks, sweetie! And I LOVE all the detail shots that she captured. It’s actually kind of amazing–you work so hard on all these projects, you set them all up, and then day of, you barely notice them because there’s guests everywhere and you’re so busy with them! It’s great seeing photographic evidence of all your hard work and that everything did actually come together really well!
@Mrs. Ostrich: You’re in good company–I’m obsessed, too! Maybe just one more watch before I head off to bed. ;)

@Jessica24UK: Awww, you’re so sweet! I agree–it’s nice having a compact way to relive our wedding! :)
@Mrs. Hyena: I know, technology is clearly amazing! And the black and white is one of my favorite parts!
@Miss Ticket: Not awkward at all! She could be the iPhone videographer!
@KJL: Thank you! And she is extremely talented! I’m so glad she shared those talents with me. :)
