This was another weekend of being showered with love, wishes, gifts, and…

way

too

much

food.

Everything looked great and I could tell that my aunts worked a ton and had a lot of fun preparing. Because everyone attending was family or soon-to-be family, I stayed extra busy. There were so many people there that I hadn’t seen in what felt like forever!
We started things off with an ice breaker. We passed around a small jewelry box filled with diamond confetti and saw who could come closest to guessing how many were in the container without counting. I was way off! I guessed 55 when there were over 100.

Next was the apron game. You can see my start below, but I ended up adding on a wine topper, a crystal light container, and salt and pepper packets too. Anyway, you safety pin some light weight kitchen items to an apron and have someone tell the guests playing to pay close attention to you when you enter. Of course everyone thinks they need to start memorizing what is on your apron. After you leave the room, have the leader ask questions not related to the apron, like if your hair was up or down, what color your eyes are, what type of shoes were you wearing, or even things like what month you’re getting married in.

After people are tricked to the point they forget about what was on the apron, ask them to write down as many of the items from the apron as they can remember.
Next, it was time to open presents. Before I opened one, the person the gift was from introduced themselves, told everyone how they were related, and then gave one piece of advice. I really liked it! My advice would be to try to do the gifts last. I don’t know what exactly it is, maybe it signals the end, or maybe people just have the chance to sit still long enough to realize they’re hungry or ready to go home, but things kind of felt over after gifts and the meal.
Our family is full of lingerers though. We’re all pro at the goodbye tour. For anyone who stayed past dinner, we played a matching game of male and female animals like goose and gander, doe and buck, nanny and billy, mare and stallion, and so on and so on. We also had a competition to see who could come up with the most famous couples in just a few minutes.
The next one was my favorite of the day! My cousin and I were handed a bag of items and told that she’s supposed to help me get ready to leave for the honeymoon, but there was a catch! The power went out and so we were blindfolded.

Beautiful, haha
