Miss Fox's Picture
Miss Fox, Washington DC/Havre de Grace, MD Age and Occupation: 26, Massage Therapist Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Field Support Engineer Engagement Date: April 18, 2010 Wedding Date: June 2012 Venue: Vandiver Inn About Me: I’m a dancer turned massage therapist who was born and raised in New York. Alas, true love has brought me “south” where I still maintain my penchants for pretty shoes, wine, crossword puzzles, cherry blossoms, and the Mets. I own more sunglasses than a normal person should and don’t eat red meat (though I make up for it by eating my weight in sushi). I tend to be a big planner who likes to get things started early, but generally end up being indecisive and procrastinating when it comes down to it. I have a (not so) secret crush on Chris Carrabba, but my loyalty and love ultimately goes to the future hubs, of course! Together, my Foxy man and I love to discuss (read: debate) politics and current events, have Mario Kart and Scrabble duels, and just laugh. A lot. We’re hoping and planning for a laid back, fun, summery, rustic vibe to our June wedding that will be genuinely “us” – that is, if we finally make some decisions. Huzzah!
About Miss Fox

Once Again, It’s Never Too Early.

October 18th, 2011 @ 5:42 am by Miss Fox

We don’t have a save-the-date picked yet. I haven’t printed out or assembled (or even decided how to assemble) our invites.

But you know what we do have?

Stamps!!

180 stamps, to be exact.

I have no idea if this will be enough, or too many. Or if we can get our invites to an appropriate weight so that each one will only (hopefully) need one (or exactly 2) stamp(s). What I do know is that I couldn’t resist USPS’s new Forever stamps. They are not only incredibly fun and say “love” on them (as all mush-tastic wedding stamps should), but they kind of totally match our color scheme in a non-matchy kind of way. As in, the background color is a certain shade of teal. Which is similar to turquoise. And some of the flowers are orange. So it works.

Huzzah!

I guess I should probably explain why I seemingly went out and spontaneously bought “wedding” stamps real quick, though.

See, I’m not really a fan of the usual wedding stamps - you know, the cake, rings, hearts, etc. It’s cute and all, but it isn’t really mine or Foxy’s style. I feel like I have come to expect those stamps on wedding invitations, and it always comes as a nice little surprise when a couple decides to do something a bit different. True, most people don’t even notice silly things like the stamp on the envelope, but I do. Hence, I needed to find some stamps.

I first saw the new Garden Love Forever stamps a month or two ago and instantly fell in love with them for the aforementioned reasons. I bought them now because they always seem to change up the Forever stamps, and I didn’t want to miss my opportunity. Easy peasy. Pretty stamps = happy Fox.

Though I’m sure everyone and their mom will be using these stamps by the time I send out anything.

CRAP. I just realized I didn’t factor in stamps for the RSVP envelopes!!! Ugh. Back to the post office I go.

Anyone else care about really, REALLY trivial details…like stamps?

I went and snatched up 120 of those flowery bad boys when I bought the postcard stamps (flowering herbs) for our Save the Dates. And if they weight too much - I think we are going for the 64 butterfly stamp. I am not sure the “wedding stamps” are really for us either.

Oh my gosh!! I was at the post office last week sending a care package to my FW (she’s deployed to Iraq til Christmas) and I saw these on the wall o’ stamps! I promptly bought 200 of them even though our invitations don’t go out until April. I love the little details!! And these stamps - I love them too!! :)

I am a ‘trivial’ detail person, and you can bet that I will be obsessing over stamps in the upcoming weeks. I love love loooove the ones you found, and I also love the Go Green ones, because they are so friendly looking!

Save the date cards were probably harder for me to pick out than the invitation itself. You can have a lot more fun with the save the date card as far as design, colors, photos, etc.

I totally wanted fun stamps like that… but the frugal side of me went with normal stamps and stocked up when they went on sale for 10% off.

Love the stamps you choose!!

Oh I used those for my shower thank you’s…they’re so pretty! At first I didn’t think much about stamps when it came to my wedding invites but as the design process went on and I read more blogs on weddingbee, I came to realize that it was really important! And i’m glad that I did put thought behind it because i have actually gotten some compliments on my STAMPS! Who would have thought! I used the purple heart ribbon stamp. Not only was it significant because my fiance is in the military but it matched my entire invite perfectly!

I thought I did. Then we got 30494 save the dates back in the mail and I was basically like “GOD DAMN IT. FIND A NEW STAMP, ANY STAMP. AND GET THESE OUT OF MY FACE.” ha.

I used these bad boys for our save-the-dates - they’re adorable! :) And yeah, I get the obsessions with silly little details (that, in all honesty, most people probably won’t even notice). I had to get the special “Celebrate” neon stamps for our rehearsal dinner invitations :)

Love those! They are perfect and don’t scream “WEDDING,” which is a plus in my book. ;)

I used these stamps for our STD’s! But I’m using the more traditional stamps for the invites.

We also used those stamps for our save the dates. They matched our colors, plus they are so cute. We had to go to two different post offices because the first one was out of them. Totally worth the extra running around.

They are awesome! So great that they are forever stamps, I JUST heard on the radio they’re raising postage in January. These are so cute. Is it totally insane crazy if this not-yet-engaged girl stocks up on these now? Yes? Okay, I won’t. Thanks for talking me down, Fox.

I too used these stamps for our STDs– I’ve had them sitting waiting patiently for about 5 months until it came time to be sent out. So I was FINALLY allowed to go to the post office last Tuesday and sent them out wednesday!! I’m so excited.

I designed our STDs myself so stamps were definitely a big issue. I love how fun these are but still love related without being the stamp you’d expect on anything wedding related.
