Miss Fox, Washington DC/Havre de Grace, MD Age and Occupation: 26, Massage Therapist Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Field Support Engineer Engagement Date: April 18, 2010 Wedding Date: June 2012 Venue: Vandiver Inn About Me: I’m a dancer turned massage therapist who was born and raised in New York. Alas, true love has brought me “south” where I still maintain my penchants for pretty shoes, wine, crossword puzzles, cherry blossoms, and the Mets. I own more sunglasses than a normal person should and don’t eat red meat (though I make up for it by eating my weight in sushi). I tend to be a big planner who likes to get things started early, but generally end up being indecisive and procrastinating when it comes down to it. I have a (not so) secret crush on Chris Carrabba, but my loyalty and love ultimately goes to the future hubs, of course! Together, my Foxy man and I love to discuss (read: debate) politics and current events, have Mario Kart and Scrabble duels, and just laugh. A lot. We’re hoping and planning for a laid back, fun, summery, rustic vibe to our June wedding that will be genuinely “us” – that is, if we finally make some decisions. Huzzah!

Dress-Debacle Update

October 19th, 2011 @ 3:04 pm by Miss Fox

The very next day after I tried on my dress, realized it was missing buttons, and was told they would fix it, Foxy Mama got a call from RK Bridal. They told her that the issue with the dress was already corrected and that she was welcome to go by the store anytime to do a once-over of the dress before they sent it to me in Maryland. The earliest she could do so was about a week later, since I needed to mail her the original receipt for the dress.

Fast forward a week—she goes into the shop to look at the dress…and it looked the exact same. I’m not sure who called to say it was done and that buttons were added, but they were most definitely wrong. Right there on the spot, the associates at the store tell my mom to wait for a few minutes while they added them.

Apparently you can magically add lots of buttons to a dress in minutes?

Apparently. They told my mom it was actually ready about 15 minutes later. She looked at the dress with the owner of RK…and it looked, and I quote, “off.” She thinks they just took the (old, dirty) buttons off of the sample dress and put them on mine.

Sorry, RK. No dice.

The owner wasn’t thrilled with the button job, either (thank god). What I remember from the conversation I had with my mom a few weeks ago is that they will either: A) take off the old-new buttons and replace them with new-new buttons that match the dress, or B) order a whole new dress from the dress manufacturer and demand that they put the buttons on it before sending it.

I’m really trying to just let it go and not worry—we did still have over 11 months until the wedding at the time said debacle occurred. It just strikes me as funny/ironic/dumb that here I thought I was SO ahead by ordering and having my dress come in 20 months ahead of time, when it turns out I may be lucky if I actually get it within the six-month mark. So there’s that.

So I’m thinking of making a back-up toilet-paper dress. Just in case.

Fashionable AND cost-efficient, yes?

Hopefully you’ll end up with the dress and buttons exactly the way you want them!
If not, at least with the back up dress the question of how to use the restroom while wearing becomes a little easier, ha

GAH! Huge head slap to RK Bridal. This gives me ulcers because I need my belt sewn into my dress. Luckily you have so much time for them to get their ish together. Hooray for being ahead of the game!

Oh Foxy that stinks that they keep messing with your buttons. Hopefully they get it fixed in time (which I am sure they will). I can’t wait to see it!!

MAN. This is indeed a debacle! I would be so stressed if the one thing that really drew me to the dress kept going so wrong. You’re taking this like a champ! I hope it all works out :)

I hope that everything works out quickly. I can only imagine how frustrating this issue must be — especially when the buttons are such a lovely aspect of your dress!

Only downside of a loo paper dress? Totally not re-useable. Ewwww. ;)

I too am having an issue with my dress..it is Allure 8770. My dilemma is that it came in with the strap on the left backwards!! (the lace edge was supposed to face inward when it was facing outward) I have been in contact with the boutique and the designer as well. Right now I am in limbo and don’t know what is happening. They tell me they will either have it fixed or have the designer send a new gown. This isn’t looking good on Allure :o/

I can’t believe all the trouble they’re giving you about some simple buttons! Seems like it would be a totally simple fix. Props to you for staying calm about the whole thing…I would consider ordering from another store except for your time crunch now.

I hope you get it all worked out!! I am so scared about my dress coming in with something wrong…it’s only coming in 3 weeks (!) before my wedding, so I don’t have time to get a new one from the designer if they screw something up! Ahh!
