About Mrs. Penguin

Hi Hive! Pengy here, back from New York and reporting live once again from the couch here. :) I hope you loved all the snippets of dresses and scenes from New York throughout this week posted to Facebook and Twitter!

Before we wrap our heads around how to deliver all the spring 2012 bridal fashion goodness to the hive, I wanted you all to be able to experience some of the shows as I did, via video! Check out these quick snippets of finale videos I captured from various runway shows. Come along with me to the runway!

Kicking it off with Maggie Sottero - The hive loves Maggie Sottero! Say hayyy if you’re a Maggie bride!

Christos - Feminine, romantic, and timeless, with classic shapes and silhouettes, Christos is always one of the shows I look forward to. Let’s be honest…I can definitely see myself wearing a Christos gown!

Romona Keveza Collection - Romona Keveza was inspired by Brigitte Bardot this year, and built her entire collection around the ’60s style icon. The French blonde bombshell style shown through and through! (How incredible is that first dress—black tulle over blue? Wow!)

Reem Acra - one of THE BEST shows I attended this year. I left so excited to share Reem Acra’s gowns with the hive!

Strapless dresses are taking a backseat this year, something I think everyone is pretty excited about. Lots of lace sleeves and sheer overlays were featured across all runways. We also saw a nice representation of metalics—”gilver” (gold/silver) was a hot color, as well as nude tones. Big, billowy skirts are still all the rage, spilling over from last year. There was no lack of understated tops combined with dramatic princess skirts. But enough from me…enjoy the shows!

I have a special video that deserves its own post coming up later in the day…Romona Keveza shares an intimate show with editors and buyers where she sits down and describes her Legends line this year. Stay tuned!

What trends are you seeing here for spring lines? What are you most excited about?

Stay tuned for Part 2 - Ines Di Santo, Rivini, St Pucchi, and Kenneth Pool!

Fabulous! I am glad to see sleeves coming back. Strapless isn’t for everybody and it sure wasn’t for me (my awesome seamtress made cap sleeves)
