Mrs. Cucumber Sandwich's Picture
Mrs. Cucumber Sandwich, Washington, DC/Cape May, NJ Age and Occupation: 28, School Counselor Fiance's Age and Occupation: 40, Collegiate Athletics Engagement Date: March 27, 2010 Wedding Date: October 2011 Venue: Congress Hall Hotel About Me: I am a school counselor who spends my day wrangling children and my nights attempting to be creative with wedding projects. My enthusiasm for each of these activities far surpasses my skill. Thank goodness Mr. Cucumber Sandwich is there to pick up the pieces and be the voice of reason about my DIY tries. I have an obsession with terrible romantic comedies (‘From Justin to Kelly’ anyone?, anyone?!?), competitive Scrabble play, and hot dogs. I could eat astronaut ice cream for every meal and can’t seem to resist buying more shoes. Our wedding is going to be a true hodge podge of semi-destination, tradition, Yuengling, New England charm, with just a dash of ‘Jersey Shore’ thrown in. It has been six years in the making and I can’t wait to marry my best friend.
About Mrs. Cucumber Sandwich

My Favorite D.I.B(uy)

October 20th, 2011 @ 11:32 am by Mrs. Cucumber Sandwich

I dedicate this post to Miss Funnel Cake and her out of this world cake topper.

Unfortunately I am not even close to her level of craftiness so I decided to buy my cake topper. Best.Wedding.Decision.Ever! I am so in love with our cake topper it is not even funny. I stalked Etsy for days looking for the perfect topper and finally came across A Simple Start’s page.

Her toppers were so adorable and reasonably priced that I immediately sent her an email with a little inspiration board of Mr. Cuke Sammie and myself.

Jenni immediately emailed me back and said she would love to make us a topper with Pickle Puppy. In about three weeks I had these glorious images in my inbox.

And here is the topper in all her glory at the wedding (yes, it is a her).

It seems like after the wedding there are so few tangible things that you get to take home. Sure, you will always have the pictures and the memories but a lot of the ’crafty’ things get thrown out or given to guests. I am not really going to store all of my handmade table numbers or keep all of my milk glass that I spent hours collecting. I love the cake topper because it is something tangible that I get to take home and display. Every time I glance over at her on the shelf she gives me the warm fuzzies! I love that she depicts us in our wedding day finest and has the Pickle Pupple. I adore that she can be displayed in our home for people to see when they come to visit. Towards the end of the planning process I started looking for things that I would take with me to the ’other side’. Tangible things that I could look at and remember how much fun I had planning/crafting the wedding.

Anyone else super excited about their cake topper? Married bees: what did you keep after the wedding?

I love it! I have been debating getting a cake topper from Etsy. I was firmly anti-cake topper, but my fiance loves them. The more fabulously personal cake toppers like yours I see, the more I am leaning towards surprising him with our own personal cake topper. Yours is amazing! I love that you get to keep it and display it as a tangible reminder of all of the personal details you worked so hard to put into your day!

Your cake topper is very cute! I loved ours and they are just sitting out now, but I’m hoping to get decorative shadow boxes for them soon.

Super cute. Love me some Boxers!

By the way, when do you officially get to stop being a “Miss” CS and move to being “Mrs.” or “Ms.” CS?

@WinterWhite2012: I vote yes to the cake topper. I am so happy we decided at the last minute to get one. And Jenni is amazing if you are looking for one :)
@Miss Funnel Cake: But not as craft-mazing as yours! I am still gushing over it.
