Miss Fox's Picture
Miss Fox, Washington DC/Havre de Grace, MD Age and Occupation: 26, Massage Therapist Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Field Support Engineer Engagement Date: April 18, 2010 Wedding Date: June 2012 Venue: Vandiver Inn About Me: I’m a dancer turned massage therapist who was born and raised in New York. Alas, true love has brought me “south” where I still maintain my penchants for pretty shoes, wine, crossword puzzles, cherry blossoms, and the Mets. I own more sunglasses than a normal person should and don’t eat red meat (though I make up for it by eating my weight in sushi). I tend to be a big planner who likes to get things started early, but generally end up being indecisive and procrastinating when it comes down to it. I have a (not so) secret crush on Chris Carrabba, but my loyalty and love ultimately goes to the future hubs, of course! Together, my Foxy man and I love to discuss (read: debate) politics and current events, have Mario Kart and Scrabble duels, and just laugh. A lot. We’re hoping and planning for a laid back, fun, summery, rustic vibe to our June wedding that will be genuinely “us” – that is, if we finally make some decisions. Huzzah!

Hangin’ Out

October 21st, 2011 @ 2:03 pm by Miss Fox

Are you guys as hung up (heh, get it?) on the whole personalized-wire-hanger trend as I am?

After seeing multiple photos with wedding dresses hung from these too-perfect hangers, I decided that I absolutely must have one. And not just any one, but specifically, a Lila Frances one (above). I love Lila’s design in particular because of its simplicity and the fact that it is all wire; while the wood hangers are equally beautiful, I’m just incredibly drawn to the more minimalist look of the aforementioned.

I initially fell in love and bookmarked the site in my browser about six months ago. Why not just buy it right away, you lovely bees ask? Well apparently Anna, the genius crafter of Lila Frances, only takes a certain amount of orders per week (smart cookie), and they go on sale Sunday nights at 7 PM CST.

Of course I never remembered to go online at just the right time. It also embarrassingly took me a hot minute to calculate what 7 PM CST would be in EST. Hush. (It’s 8 PM, BTW.) I always seemed to remember to order it on a Wednesday or Friday. Seeing as these things sell like hotcakes, I was never able to purchase.

Long, pointless story made short: I left the site up on my comper when I inevitably remembered it one particular Friday in July, and lo and behold, our showing of Harry Potter the following Sunday got us out and home by 7:55.

Purchase complete! A short 10 weeks later, I was the proud owner of a wire hanger reading “mrs foxyslastname” to hang my dress on on our wedding day!

That is, if they ever figure out what they’re doing with my darn dress. =P

Anyone else jump on the hanger bandwagon?

I love the hangers! I DIYed mine, and was so happy with the result! I stuck with the wooden one (painted silver), though, because I was afraid the hanger would warp. I loved the thickness of 12 gague wire, but couldn’t bend any that was strong enough to hold my heavy dress! Good thing, too, because the name part kept getting snagged on things and one BM’s was so stretched out you couldn’t tell what it was supposed to say!

haha Just ordered mine from Lila Frances today! I had been forgetting to as well, and no big hurry since my wedding day has already come and gone a month ago, but wanted one to store my dress with and maybe get a shot or two with it hanging when I take my bridals! What a great memento!!

Very excited for it!

I definitely want one but am waiting to see if one of my bridesmaids or someone will get one for me for a shower or something. However I am not sure that non “wedding-bee” peeps get the trend! So, I may be buying myself one in the end…

I’ve seen these several times, and usually I HATE trends, but I love these. I was going to get one myself, but ended up getting on as a gift from my photographer for booking (crazy awesome, right? I know!) And I love it so much! I think I’ll have it for the rest of my life and if I’m blessed enough to have a son, I would consider giving it to his bride someday!

Oh I am so jumping on this bandwagon! I have successfully resisted so far, but I don’t think I will be able to hold out much longer, those are just too awesome.

@ pccl - I love that story - awesome gift and awesome idea to gift it to your daughter in law. I for sure want one now for that reason.

I want one because I think they’re so dreamy but I’m trying so hard not to be a trendy bride. I think i’m going to give in but I think I like the wooden one - even though Lila Frances was the originator I really love dark wood and metal together

I just ordered mine a few days ago! :-) I’ve be in LOVE with this idea for a long time, then I went on an Etsy spree earlier this week - lol, that site will be the end of me! I went with the wood hangar, but I do love the look of the wire ones.

@ookbob: I’m SO impressed you made yours! I do see the advantages of the wood.. my hanger came with a little note that warned it can be easily warped. Good thing my dress isn’t too massive!
@lilyellowdress9: You must get those pictures! Right now, mine is just sitting on the fireplace mantle.. seriously looks pretty just as a piece of “art”!
@medsie35: I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you!
@pccl: Um, can I have your photog just for that reason?! Too awesome!! Such a sweet idea to give it to a future daughter-in-law.
@Miss Dalmatian: Do iiiiiiit ;)
@hisbahamamama: Etsy has TONS of options.. it’s a bandwagon you should totally ride on.
@SadieBee: I hope you love it as much as I love mine!

Oh yes! I am definitely OBSESSED with these amazing hangers I keep seeing everywhere! I must have them for me and my girls but I do plan on making them with wooden hangers. I’m going to include them in my gift bags for all my BMs. I can’t wait to see mine though, with Mrs. “RedSox” proudly displayed in wire! I think I might just have to make some more for my everyday closet! :-)
