The journey to find a dress, that is! That is right, hive! I have found my wedding dress. Let the cheers and confetti ensue! Woo hoo! Are you excited? I know I am absolutely ecstatic! Before I can get down to show you the dresses I tried on and the one that I ended up going with, I have a little business to take care of=. Put that partying on hold:

Okay, now that has been taken care of, let the partying begin again. I never in a million years thought that I would be able to pick my wedding dress so quickly, and, dare I say it, so easily. BM Bestie was coming up to order her bridesmaid dress from David’s Bridal, so I figured I might as well try on some dresses. When we showed up, I was assigned to Stacy, who was absolutely amazing! She was kind, patient, and really listened to what I wanted. She sat down and got a feeling for our wedding and what I wanted in a dress. I took what I learned about dresses and cuts, and I told her what I was kind of looking for. I did try some other cuts just to see, and here is what we came up with. (I apologize for the quality of the pictures, but in my excitement I forgot my camera at home.)
The first dress I tried on was style V9743:

I know that it’s been said that curvier girls should stay away from empire waist gowns, but I think this one works because it cinches in before flowing out. I really loved this gown. I had decided that if I got this gown, I was going to add lace cap sleeves to give it more of a vintage feel. This was the gown to beat for a long time.
The next dress I tried on was Style ES9808:

I liked it. It was really fun because of the pockets, but it wasn’t what I was looking for. I really didn’t like box pleats in the front, and it wasn’t that classic, vintage feel that I was going for. So it went back.
I decided to be daring and try on yet another empire waist that was also a ball gown. Just to be absolutely sure. Stacy pulled me this one to try on (Style T3039):

Once again, it was fun, but not what I was looking for. I think it added a lot of pounds on me. Fail. I let Stacy get back to what she was doing and stopped suggesting things for awhile, just going with the flow.
Next up was style WG3078:

I’m going to be honest. The only thing that I liked about this dress was the material and the sweetheart neckline. I don’t think it was really flattering at all, despite being an a-line gown. I think it’s because it didn’t really hug my waist at all, so it added pounds. Needless to say, this one was a pass.
Stacy brought this gown out next (Style 9WG3243):

It was everything that I thought I wanted in a dress. It was pretty fitted, it had ruching to help define my curves and cover my tummy, and it had a sweetheart neckline. I really like this dress, but I was not thrilled about the fabric. The taffeta was just too shiny for me. I asked Stacy if there was anything else like it in a different fabric, so she brought this out (Style V9409):

I really liked it, and I thought it was everything I wanted in a dress. It was everything that I was supposed to try on with my body type. It was a simple material, it was fitted, it had little beading. There was a problem though: I just wasn’t feeling that rush of being a bride. Even that first dress which was still my first choice did not give me thrills. I was starting to believe that I was going to have to go to another bridal salon to try on dresses. Before we left, BM Bestie suggested I try one something that I normally wouldn’t. So I asked for a mermaid gown with lace (Style 9WG3217):

I loved the lace of this dress. I really loved the way it fit my curves and the fact that it make me look thinner instead of adding pounds. It really showed off my va-va-voom figure! I really liked it, but it was still missing something. I really liked the fit and flare, but I wasn’t crazy about the mermaid cut, it really hugged my pooch. So I asked Stacy if there was anything else she though would fit what I was looking for, now that lace was on the board. She asked me if I trusted her, and because she really had done a great job so far, I said I did. Then she brought me this dress (Style T9612) (The dress was two sizes too big, so I apologize that it’s a little ill-fitting):

I know that it’s ill fitting, and that it doesn’t look the most flattering right now, but when I tried it on, without even seeing, I knew it was THE ONE! I was so in love with this dress. Some of you might recognize it, as there is another bee who is also wearing this dress. That fantastic someone is Miss Ticket—obviously that woman has some great taste. I have ordered the dress in all white and in my size and I cannot wait for it to come in so I can get it altered and get a bustle put in. I’m in love with my dress. The funny thing is, Stacy thought of this dress right away when I was telling her about my wedding, but I was pretty adamant about no lace when I first starting out. I’m glad I decided to be and to toss the rules in the air. Because of it, I have my dream dress.
What do you think of my choice? Was your dress something that you didn’t originally want?
