Busy as a Bee…

October 25th, 2011 @ 8:00 am by Mrs. Skunk

Only not really.

I’ve been wanting to write this post for a while, but I was sure that once the wedding got closer, it would no longer be relevant. That hasn’t happened, so here goes.

We’re less than two weeks out to the wedding. In addition to schlepping bread to farmers’markets five days a week, babysitting three, and helping out another pastry chef as needed, I’m also supposed to be getting bride brain. Or so I’ve heard. When I do have a few moments that aren’t devoted to sleep or sneaking in a quick sesh at the climbing gym, I’ve shopped for two awesome Halloween costumes. And last night I carved a pumpkin.

Actually, Mr. Skunk carved (word up y’all, if you want your mister to join you in cheesy holiday traditions, get power tools involved) while I looked on giggling in excitement.

I keep getting asked if I’m stressed or nervous.

The answer is no. I feel like each day leading up to the wedding has been great so far, but I haven’t felt any of that anxiousness that I’ve heard and read so much about. BM J. Snake lives in Savannah and begs for me to give her tasks to complete. But really, there’s not much to do. I feel very in the moment right now. It’s almost as if I’m going to wake up one Saturday (really really soon) and say, “Hmmm. I think I’ll get married today.” I figure I’ll wake up, get purtified and have a super fantastic party. Icing on the cake? Mr. Skunk becomes my husband. But a part of me is strangely worried that I’m not worried.

Has anyone else stumbled upon a calm attitude? Is there still a chance I’ll turn into a crazy pants?

It is awesome that you are doing so well with all the potential stressors surrounding you. But don’t worry about not worrying there’s still plenty of time for you to turn into a crazy pants like the rest of us. <3

Exciting! I haven’t really been stressed or crazy, just more anxious for the day to get here already! I had some moments of obsessing over random things like, would everybody bring thier children even though we were relatively clear about children not coming? Would people be happy about where they’re sitting? But for the most part, everything is done and the professionals are doing their thing and I am just READY TO GET MARRIED!

I love the way you described the wedding day :) I hope that calm as our day approaches. I have found that even after 6 months of being engaged I still love reading bridal magazines, planning, and DIY projects. I’m not sure if I’ll reach a burn-out point (or go crazy pants!) but so far I am loving it!

I like your pumpkin and your attitude!
I don’t know if it’s physically possible for me, but I would love to stumble across and then proceed to face-plant into a calm attitude!

I’m totally feeling the same! Our wedding is this weekend and other than a few last minute errands that have already been delegated…there’s not much left to do. I feel pretty calm but I actually have some anxiety about NOT feeling crazy! Is that completely backwards or what :)

You are lucky, Miss S! Don’t dress about not being stressed. :)
