Miss Fox, Washington DC/Havre de Grace, MD Age and Occupation: 26, Massage Therapist Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Field Support Engineer Engagement Date: April 18, 2010 Wedding Date: June 2012 Venue: Vandiver Inn About Me: I’m a dancer turned massage therapist who was born and raised in New York. Alas, true love has brought me “south” where I still maintain my penchants for pretty shoes, wine, crossword puzzles, cherry blossoms, and the Mets. I own more sunglasses than a normal person should and don’t eat red meat (though I make up for it by eating my weight in sushi). I tend to be a big planner who likes to get things started early, but generally end up being indecisive and procrastinating when it comes down to it. I have a (not so) secret crush on Chris Carrabba, but my loyalty and love ultimately goes to the future hubs, of course! Together, my Foxy man and I love to discuss (read: debate) politics and current events, have Mario Kart and Scrabble duels, and just laugh. A lot. We’re hoping and planning for a laid back, fun, summery, rustic vibe to our June wedding that will be genuinely “us” – that is, if we finally make some decisions. Huzzah!
About Miss Fox

Das Men

October 25th, 2011 @ 11:32 am by Miss Fox

And now for something completely different!

This past weekend, Foxy and I decided to hit up Men’s Wearhouse to see their rental options for him and the boys. Apparently, I did not do my research.

I mean, what do I know about the men’s stuff in regard to wedding planning? Not too much. Shameful.

My initial thought was that the guys would be easy-peasy—we’d just rent their suits! What I didn’t realize was that Men’s Wearhouse only rents out tuxes, which is great for some people, but it’s just not “us.” We realized very quickly that we wanted and needed suits as opposed to tuxes due to factors such as color, formality, fabric weight, etcetera.

Here’s an idea of what we’re looking for:

In other words: suit pants, vest, dress shirt, tie. The groomsmen would be in a lighter/heather gray getup, and Foxy would be in a darker/charcoal gray ensemble. I suppose the vision is to have the vest and pants be the same exact shade and pattern, a la the first and second photos above.

What we got at Men’s Wearhouse was this:

Nice and presentable, for sure, but a little formal and not as matchy as what we are striving for. Except for the tie; we’re buying the tie!

I did some extensive searching—Express, Banana Republic, Macy’s, Sears, Kohls—many of which had some good contenders, but it seemed like either the style, color or price just wasn’t right. The one site I happened to find a good mix of the three was JCPenney.

Seeing as this is not a definite decision yet, my primary concern was that whatever pieces we ultimately do decide on won’t be available when we are ready for the guys to purchase, or that they won’t be available in the right sizes. None of the groomsmen are local—four are in New York and one (his brother) is in Colorado—so there’s really no opportunity for Foxy to get together with the guys and do one mass trip. Ah, details and complications.

I’ve admittedly been doing a little research on the guys’ attire every day, hoping to find an easy, magical solution. Then just the other day, I noticed Mrs. Meerkat’s post on Studio Suits, an online store that makes custom suits in a wide variety of fabrics and colors for a really, really good price. Everyone can enter their own measurements online, when they are ready and able to…no worries about wrong sizes or limited stock. I’m currently awaiting some fabric swatches to see if the colors are right, and if they are? I’m cautiously hopeful we may have found an amazing solution for the guys!

What did you decide for das men at your wedding? If you did the suit thing, where did you get them from? I’m open to any and all suggestions!!

We are having our guys rent tuxes and fiance bought a tux and had it tailored. I was rooting for everyone buying new suits, because it’s much more practical when you consider the expense.

We are renting from Jos A. Bank, and they rent suits as well as tuxes, but you can purchase, too. In fact, they have some incredible sales you may want to check out (like buy 1 get 2 free, 70% off, etc.)!

They’re also nationwide, so it makes it nice being able to tell people all over, find the nearest store, go get fitted, etc.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

We are going either the J.Crew route or the Gilt route for Mr. Mole. If you go the Gilt route, I’d recommend going to a store like Saks and trying on different designers, styles, and sizes. Then you just wait for a big sale!

I love all of these pictures! We are going the same route colorwise with the guys in light grey and Mr. A in dark. I think it will look smashing in pictures!

my color scheme for the guys is the exact same as your vision! my FI will be in dark charcoal grey {as well as our fathers} and the groomsmen will be in the lighter grey, but no jackets. we found the perfect combination at President Tuxedo :)

Men’s Wearhouse is letting us buy our guys their suits using their buy one get one sale. Then, the guys can just go get measured and they will send over a suit to whichever location they are at as our bridal party is pretty scattered!

We ordered FI’s suit from indochino. They were great! They also give a $75 gift card that can be used at a local tailor if something little needs to be adjusted or if that doesn’t fix the problem, they will remake the entire suit for free (which they did with no questions asked for my FI) Lots of different options and they even offer free embroidery, which we used to commemorate our wedding day.

you can see my FI in his suit (ultimate cotton khaki $379) at out photog’s website:

Good luck!

We got our guys gray 3 piece suits for a good sale (buy one on sale get one for $99) which made the suits $150 per guy. Not the cheapest, but a good deal for a suit the guys can wear again. It’s tough to find a good deal on suits with vests, good luck!

Have you heard of IndoChino? Someone else around here used them. They also do custom measured suits, you should check it out!

We had the same colors for our guys! We went the suit route, with the buy one, get one offer from Men’s Wearhouse. We got the suits for $99 each after discount, and rounded out with shirts and ties for $30 more per guy :) good luck!

We are doing the exact same ensembles as you, and we did the online custom suit option as well. We used iTailor.com, but I know Mrs. Tartlet’s crew used the online site Indochino. We also found some good options at Express, but they were pricey. Can’t wait to see how yours turn out!

Nice! This is such a classy look. It’s very similar to what Mr. P and I chose.

I’m pretty sure I wrote a post about another online suit place, Indochino. We bought Mr CB’s suit from there for a great deal for a 3-piece suit! We had to have a tailor here do a couple things (let out the hem in the pants, and let a bit out of the jacket shoulders) but Indochino covers up to $75 (I think) of tweaks to the suit too!
