Food Tasting

October 25th, 2011 @ 12:58 pm by Mrs. Raccoon

We had a chance to go to a bridal tasting and try the food at the winery!

No one else seemed interested in taking photographs, so I tried to snap some ninja-style with my phone when no one else was looking. I promise the actual displays were much more attractive than how we piled everything onto our plates!

There were pretty standard crudites and domestic cheese and fruit trays.

We had a toast! This type of wine bubbles, and so most couples use it at their wedding for their toasts. It was a big winner for all of us!

More wine tasting! They gave us a cheat sheet of wine explanations.

  • Sauvignon Blanc - pairs well with chicken - herbal peach, fig, apple, and citrus aromas
  • Pinot Grigio - pairs well with ham - Italian style with rich aromas with peach, honey, and citrus
  • Classic Cabernet Sauvignon - pairs well with beef but NOT white wedding dresses - elegant and budget friendly
  • Sweet Augergine - pairs well with sweet foods - their #1 wine - sweet red wine with rich fruity and berry flavors

Maybe it was all of the wine, but they had some super salads! Everyone really liked the tomatoes with mozzarella and a balsamic and fresh herb vinaigrette.

No, we can’t blame the blurriness of the picture. Everyone got three entrees and tons of sides. There were green beans almandine, seasonal vegetables, herb-buttered red skin potatoes, roasted-garlic mashed potatoes, vegetable lasagna, Tuscan chicken, and roast beef with Cabernet wine sauce. OK, you know how at a lot of meetings and group things the food is just kind of so-so, especially the chicken and potatoes? Not the case here.

Who else was pleasantly surprised by their tasting?

It all looks so good! The tasting was probably right up there with the cake vendor that Mr. E had no problems attending the meeting.

Awww, I couldn’t help but think of the raccoons that visit us on our porch looking for a treat when I saw your post :) We didn’t have a tasting, and glad you were happily surprised with yours! Mmmmm, cake balls.

Mmmm…. and now I’m drooling at my desk reading about it… but yeah, our tasting went so well. We had a really simple meal (think Caesar salad, a chicken dish, and the wedding cake was our dessert, plus a sweet table later at night), but it was possibly the best Caesar salad and best chicken I have ever tasted! And for our tasting, we were seated in an intimate booth in the hotel’s restaurant with our coordinator, and had a lovely candle-light dinner that night! Anyone thinking of working with the Intercontinental chain of hotels, I would very highly recommend!

@AshleyB: @Pink-Rose: Your tastings and foods sound amazing too! Why is it so far from dinner time and why won’t it be as delicious as what I just read about?
