With most wedding decisions, I did research until my head was spinning, contemplated every option that was even in the realm of possibility, and discussed said options with anyone who would listen until I was blue in the face. Picking a DJ, however, was not such a lengthy process, and I don’t really have an explanation as to why. It certainly wasn’t because I did not care about the music, because I think we can all agree that music can play a big role in getting the party started.
That would be Bridesmaid M, me, Mr. Dalmatian, and MOH K busting some moves at MOH A’s wedding. She had a great band that achieved a lively atmosphere and crowded dance floor that I am hoping to replicate at our wedding. Despite her great experience with a band, we decided to go with a DJ, mainly because of the lower price tag (because, let’s be honest, with regard to cutting costs so far my success rate is pretty shameful).
I have actually never been to a wedding with a DJ (I have only been to a handful of weddings), so I wasn’t really sure what to expect or what to look for in selecting this vendor. I had, however, been to many bar and bat mitzvahs back in the seventh grade, and I think that may be the source for the one rule I had in mind:

Not to mention the fact that he has the cutest smile ever. I swear I am not a total creeper but, seriously, don’t you just want to be friends with this guy? If so, you can find him at Cosmo Creations DJ Service.

As soon as I discovered that his prices were very much in our price range (let’s take a moment to celebrate finally not going over budget on something), we met with him for a quick chat, and I booked him on the spot!
I have my fingers crossed that my lack of experience with DJs did not cause me to forget anything that I should have considered. He seems to be very professional—in an interview he discusses the importance of appropriate equipment, appropriate dress, and appropriate smell (AKA no smoke). He seems low-key but promises that he will get people dancing. He has been quick to respond to emails. And he has that darn smile. Did I forget anything? Please tell me no!
So, an amazingly short time after we set our sights on booking entertainment, we checked it off the list!
What did you look for when booking entertainment? Did you have any vendors that were a breeze to find?
