Now that I have found my dress, I have begun the search for the finishing touches on my wedding day look. While I am most likely getting my hair done professionally that day, I will most definitely be doing my own makeup. I do wear makeup on a daily basis, but it’s pretty light and not very complicated. A little mascara, a tad-bit of eyeliner, some lavender eye shadow, a splash of bronzer, and some lip-gloss is all that I need. It seriously takes me about five minutes and I’m out of the house.
Obviously I want something more for my wedding day. Some days I am dreaming of something soft and dreamy. Other days I am dreaming of something striking and dramatic. My dress could allow for either makeup style. So what should I do? Most people at this point would start the inspiration hunt online and find styles that jump out at them. Then once that is narrowed down, the logical next step is to go out and buy the makeup and try on the styles for yourself. Well, I don’t exactly have the funds to toss around and buy makeup that I may or may not use again. Bummer.
Then my friend had a brilliant idea.
There are dozens of online makeup makeover sites online. All I have to do is upload my picture and start slapping on the virtual makeup. I know it’s not wholly realistic, but at least it gives me somewhat of an idea as to what works and what does not. I tried several sites and the one that I liked the best was taaz.com. It had a ton of makeup choices and they let you know what product you were applying. It also was very user friendly. I immediately took a picture to upload and I got started.
Here is the picture I started with (please forgive the makeup-less face):

There was several looks I really wanted to try. One was a little more heavy version of my daily wear. Lavender eye shadow, peach lipstick, and some dark eye makeup. Here is the end result:

I also tried a glamorous, Hollywood siren look:

The site also had some celebrity inspired makeup looks, so I tried some of those too:

I’m sure it’s probably hard to tell without the inspiration picture, but this one was inspired by Katy Perry.

This one was Carrie Underwood inspired.
I really liked doing this because it allowed me to see how different colors work on me, without paying for the makeup to actually try it. I think that while the makeup on here can look a little artificial and clownish (which is somewhat to be expected since it can’t really match the contours of your face). I think it got somewhat close because I do have some pictures where the makeup styles I want, I have worn similar ones in the past:

I highly recommend this if you don’t know where to start, you are unsure of what would look good, or if you want to try on makeup without the cost and hassle of doing it yourself. It totally allows you to DIY it, without the DIY.
If you were me, what styles would you go with? Which is your favorite look?
