About Mrs. Raccoon

The Three Rings of Marriage…ladies and gentlemen, we have them all!

Only kidding, but the bands are here! The only suffering was waiting until they came in! Tough cookies, right?

We went out on a personal big limb and ordered Mr. Raccoon’s ring online from The World Jewelry Center on Amazon. It was a last resort, but it ended up being a completely stress-free transaction in which we saved $423. Thank you, holiday sales! We had visited a few jewelry stores in town, and none had what he was looking for. Being simple kind of worked against us here. Alternative metals are the big thing right now! They’re affordable, strong, and have many style options. I actually really like them, but we couldn’t get over their inability to be resized. We know that we’ll be wearing these rings every day for the rest of forever, and the chances of our ring sizes changing are pretty good.

While choosing a band to wear for the rest of your life doesn’t require as much thought as choosing the partner to be with for the rest of your life, it does take some brain power. Without dragging this out any longer, here they are!

My band from Helzberg Jewelers

I can’t explain it—the chevron band just really did something for me next to my engagement ring. I didn’t even know this style existed until a few days ago.

Men’s rings now have an option of being standard or comfort fit. We went ahead and splurged for comfort fit, because Mr. Raccoon has never really worn a ring before and this kind felt a lot better to him. The inside of the ring is rounder so it is more comfortable and won’t pinch. A small thing to watch out for is that comfort-fit rings are sized differently. He is a size 8.5 regular but a size 7.5 in comfort fit.

Did anyone else think about ordering their rings online?

Both the SO and I’s engagement rings came from Helzberg and we’ve already picked out our wedding bands from them as well.

My insert has to be ordered off of the website, which is a bit traumatic for me because I would have liked to see it on before we actually buy it. Total leap of faith on this one!

Mr. Raccoon’s wedding band is gorgeous by the way! Love the timeless simplicity of it. :)

I love your band, the dip in it is perfect!
We ordered all our rings online after doing lots and lots of research. They came out perfectly; quick and less expensive than a big box store!

Excellent point about opting for gold over titanium, tungsten, etc - it’s great that when your ring sizes change, you can simply change and keep the same ring you were married with!

Ohhh, I’ve never seen a chevron shaped band before! That’s so cool. Out of curiosity, can you wear it alone? And Mr. P also opted for a comfort fit band–it seems perfect for most men these days who aren’t used to wearing rings!

Great tip on the sizing! We experienced that with Mr. Mole and had to re-order.

Love both of the rings!

Well chosen on the comfort fit for Mr R, its hard enough for them to get used to wearing the ring let alone having it unpleasant!

I’ve been to a few different Helzberg locations and have always been pleased. I like knowing others have had good experiences with them too :)

@futuremrswifey: I totally understand wanting to see it before ordering it! Hopefully it’s perfect for you!

@Mrs. Pony: Glad ordering online worked out well! There was something nice about getting to compare and browse whenever we wanted to and at our own speed.

@Miss Fox: Exactly! I didn’t think Mr. R would care so much, but he was pretty sentimental and wanted to always have the same ring. It was cute.

@Mrs. Parasol: Thanks! I don’t know if it’s made to be worn alone but I slipped it on and liked how it looked by itself. I’ll know what it is, but others might not recognize it as a wedding band because it’s a little different. I’ve been contemplating having my rings soldered together.
