Mismatched Shoes

October 31st, 2011 @ 1:19 pm by Mrs. Raccoon

Remember at the beginning when I went on and on about picking dresses for the bridesmaids and then never shared what we actually chose? Oops! To make up for it, here is a picture of Bridesmaid Paws showing off the final selection!

I think the girls will be rocking mismatched shoes with this one!

No, no. A little more like these!

Wait, let’s leave any form of match out of this entirely. The phrase “goes with” is more appropriate. After searching for some time, I realized I was not going to find a shoe that fit everyone. I think all the girls would like to avoid blisters, awkward walks, and all other imaginable shoe snafus. I want everyone to have happy feet!

All I ask is that they’re dressy enough, black, and look good with the dress. Flats or heels, closed or open toed, surprise me! Did you hunt down the shoes your bridesmaids will be wearing, or will they be finding their own?

my colors are fuchsia and black. Winter wedding so the girls are wearing long dresses. I asked them to wear what ever black shoes they were comfortable in. and considering black is a color i think every girl has a pair of dress shoes in I figured they may just as well have a pair they love in there own closet so they wont have another expense.

I like the idea of missed matched shoes. I would have them each bridesmaid with a different color that accented the bouquet. In addition add a hair piece of the same color as shoes to tie it all together :D I love the idea :D

Love the dress you picked! Bridesmaid Sis has a very similar one for our wedding!

my girls wore mismatched shoes, and i think it looked fine. i wanted them to be comfortable as i was and most of them already had silver shoes so i said wear whatever…i didn’t care, and honestly the shoes weren’t that important to me to try and find one that everyone could agree on

I gave my girls control over their shoes, it was easier on both parties I think :)

My sister allowed us to pick any pair of black patent pump. It looked really nice in photos, and everyone got to buy according to their own comfort (physical, financial) level.

I def think this is the way to go- never a good night ensues when you are forced to wear 4 inch heels that cost an arm and a leg and are digging in in all the wrong places!

Gorgeous choice of dress! I let the girls pick out any silver shoes they wanted.

Good choice! I’m going to have the girls pick their own shoes, as well. Huzzah for happy feet!

@Miss Mole: Good to know it works in photographs! I was a little worried about that.
I think I’m going to ask our photographer to take a few that don’t show the shoes in case I change my mind and don’t like it later on.

Where are your dresses from? Are they navy?

@slimgreenbean: Hi there! The dresses are from David’s Bridal. They’re style#83690 in Lapis but they look like a dark purple in person.

I am totally on board with the mismatched shoes. Then your girls can get something they really want and will wear again! Added bonus–cute foot pix. AND to be perfectly honest, no one is going to notice the bridesmaid shoes–they’re all going to be looking at YOU :)

#1: That dress is so cute!
#2: Good idea to go with some guidelines and leave the rest to your BMs! Save yourself the headache. I told my MOH I wanted her in black flats, and she just dug a pair out of her closet. Perfect!

There was no way I was going to pick shoes for my girls! I knew one would probably want to wear heels 5′3″), and the other flats (6′1″), so I just gave them their dresses and said “accessorize how you wish!’. Now that I think about it, they both went for sparkly, but I really didn’t mind what they did.
