You know, it’s amazing how much goes into the details of the day. The amount of phone calls and emails and research—the saved photos of inspiration ideas, the notes spread throughout the house…and yet, it never quite prepares you for what you see on that day. The way it all comes together—you know in your head what you want to see but it really never seems as though it will ever come to be.
And then, the day arrives.
And the details all fall into place…the world around you becomes fuzzy and that day is all that exists.

I am going to be perfectly honest with you. Before becoming engaged and obsessing over all things wedding, I had no clue what bunting was. The first time I heard of bunting, my first thought was maybe they meant bundt. (Come on, I know I am not the only one.) Maybe instead of having a candy bar they were doing various types of bundt cakes? In fact, whenever a bundt cake is mentioned in my family, typically we quote this scene from My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

Woo hoo, hive! I’ve got some great news.
After over a year of searching, I’ve found a wedding band to pair with my engagement ring.
In case you all forgot what my e-ring looks like, here’s a refresher!
This puppy is a three-stone diamond ring with 10 additional diamonds on the sides.

Heads up: this post is sort of piggy-backing on my second post.
The fact is, I am coming to terms with my religion right now, and Mr. Foxy is an athiest (not agnostic).
Getting married in a church just wouldn’t make any sense for either of us. Religion was a huge part of my childhood (and I am determind to make it a part of our future children’s, as well), but I am a different person now than I was then. I also wouldn’t feel right “making” Foxy get married in such a way that he’s uncomfortable with the whole thing…it just doesn’t make sense.
This might be a good time to start doing likeee actual stuff for the wedding, and perhaps stop whining. Since it seems, after all the vendors are booked, there are still several hundred things to do. One of those things would be invitations. Oh, you freakin’ expensive invitations, you. How I love/loathe you and your paper goodness. And, no, I do not think it is a good idea to subject myself to a “print yourself” or a “design yourself” venture. Mostly because I hate when I toss printers across the room—there are just too many pieces of plastic to pick up afterward.
Moving right along…I’m still unsure if I want to go the full blown peacock route. Yes, that is our “theme” and all, but we also have a blue/green situation going on. Would a peacock invitation be peacock overkill? I’m trying to stay away from having the actual bird on anything. I just like the idea of the feathers. And, I could include a feather in a twine tied-up simple blue invitation. I don’t necessarily need the peacock feather imagery on it.
I originally thought, “oh, we’ll just order from Wedding Paper Divas or the like” because that’s cheap, right? WRONG.

Or the story of how Crest whitening toothpaste, lab goggles, fish-boning tweezers, two socks, and wire cutters just weren’t enough.
(Is this Not the best in bridal beauty?)
I am afraid I overestimated my craftiness.
My goal was to make my old prom dress work.
You may remember, not so long ago, I was all up in the air over which shoes to wear to complete my wedding-day look. I figured I had time, as I had not selected a dress yet. Well, I still have not selected a dress yet, but I have solved the shoe conundrum. You see, I did not want to pass up the chance to buy a pair of FANTASTIC shoes, but I hadn’t found anything I liked more than these:
I was not 100% sold on the colored-shoes thing, but these were A) pretty, B) comfy, C) already in my closet, and D) closed toe (ish). You see, I am a HUGE fan of back-seam stockings; I think they are the perfect way to be ladylike, but show you have a sassy side as well. I had my mind set that I wanted to wear stockings for my wedding before there was a wedding to plan. That means closed-toe shoes are a must. PLUS, April in Michigan = cold and most likely wet, so no strappy sandals here.
(Alternative title: Nothing we do is ever simple.)
Way back when we first began thinking up our Helvetian invites, we knew that we wanted to include a wedding website with an RSVP option. And almost as soon as I was engaged, one of my first wedding resources was The Knot, which has that handy free website function built in. I asked Mr. Funnel Cake if it was OK to have the wedding website be English only since this was the free option.
FC agreed that this was a good idea under the condition that we buy a custom URL because he didn’t want our wedding website to be http://www.theknot.com/ourwedding/MissFunnelCakeandMrFunnelCake, and I don’t blame him. I bought a custom domain from Godaddy and the wedding website was dunzo. Or so I thought…
(Because you knew that part was coming!) When we were well into the process of finalising the invite design, the website came up again a lil’ something like this:
Mr. Funnel Cake: What are we doing for the wedding website?
Me: We’re using the free site on The Knot, remember?
Mr. Funnel Cake: WHAT? Nooo! We have to have the website in German and Portuguese too! We can’t have just English!
Me: … What?? You tell me this NOW?!

Well friends, this is it.
Back when I was first accepted as a blogger, I remember thinking what a daunting task it could potentially turn out to be. Creating a wedding that would not only be special to us, but would be special enough to share with you all, too—what was I thinking? I remember worrying about the small things. Would anyone read my posts? Would anyone relate to my words? Would anyone feel inspired by our wedding day? Would anyone want to read about some random Aussie girl putting together a wedding a million miles away?
It was while I was putting together my Wiki page the other day that I flashed back to those early days of planning…and realised how quickly that time went by. I’d always had a grand plan to get busy with the recapping fairly soon after our wedding—not because I wanted to get them out of the way, but because I wanted to share them while the experience was fresh in my mind. Looks like I managed it… phew!
But writing doesn’t mean much unless you’re sharing it with somebody. I have no doubt that if I wasn’t a blogger here at the ‘Bee, I would’ve rambled away some place else—that’s just what I do. Sharing our journey with you guys? It’s been one of the most amazing experiences of my life. It’s made our rained out, slightly chaotic, full of giggles wedding, that little bit more special—because you’ve been there with me the entire time. You’ve laughed with me, you’ve helped me out, you’ve calmed me down and you’ve kept me sane. And, thanks to some little charms on my wedding bouquet, you were right there with me {in spirit} as I walked down that aisle towards my husband.

Mr. Jaguar and I have been playing husband and wife now for four months.

I finally received the call that I had been waiting three months for. My dress was in. I instantly started emailing/calling/stalking my bridal party. Nobody other than my mom and sister had seen my dress yet, so it was important to me to have my bridal party with me. I immediately cleared a date and time with all of my girls. It takes almost an hour to get to the bridal salon from where I live, so we had to leave soon after we all got off work. I had just enough time to run home, change out of my work clothes and throw on some jeans, eat some dinner, grab my heels and camera, and head to my mom and dad’s house where everyone was meeting.
This is what needed to happen:

Less than a month. Even as I type it part of me can’t believe it. There were periods of time where this engagement felt like an ETERNITY…where all I want to do is just be married to Mr. Ticket already and not hear one more person ask me, “Are you excited yet?!” or, “Well, you should be all done planning now, right?” (You’ve got to be kidding me with that last one folks.) Yet here we are: the Ticket wedding is less than one month away. I’ve basically been running around like a crazy lady for the last month as is. If general life stuff, work, and helping Mr. Ticket move into our future home wasn’t enough to deal with, we are in crunch time in regards to wedding planning. I’ve been baking cookies, designing the menu, working on the OOT bags, buying materials for our photo booth, printing and cutting, and generally just trying to stay sane while accomplishing more than I have ever attempted before in my life. Getting a college degree was a cake walk compared to wedding planning.
I’m happy to say it’s not all stressful though, as there are certainly some fun moments in there, too.
