Sometime early on in the planning process, while I was casually browsing obsessively stalking wedding blogs, I came across a photographer that I totally fell for: Lotus Blossom Photography. I’m not sure why I was so drawn to their work, as there are lots (and lots, and lots) of talented photographers, many of whom seem to be swarming around Nashville, but this one jumped out at me. At the time we were not ready to book anyone, but a little seed was planted. That little seed looked a little something like this:

I have no explanation as to why but this particular photo stuck like glue (anyone else singing Sugarland right now?), but it undeniably did.
Months later, we actually were ready to book someone.
I browsed about a bagillion photography websites (seriously, there are A LOT out there). We almost booked a different company, Affordable Wedding Photography of Nashville. You can probably guess by the name what we found so tempting, and their work seemed to be of high quality as well. This did not work out because in between the time we had arranged a meeting and the actual meeting itself, our date got booked! It was frustrating at the time, but in retrospect, things happen for a reason.
I found twenty or so companies that were worthy of adding to my bookmarked sites (have I mentioned that there are a lot of photographers out there?), but I wasn’t particularly swept away by any of them, at least not any of them that were even in the same ballpark as our budget. But then a certain little seed sprung up in my mind. I tracked down the Lotus Blossom Photography website and emailed them for price quote. It was just a smidgen over budget, but at least we were hanging out in the same ballpark. The more I looked into them, the more I was convinced that they were just perfect. Here are some of my favorite shots:

I set up a meeting with the photographer and SHE. WAS. AWESOME. On top of being adorably pregnant with twins, she was very friendly and easy to talk to (which is very important to me considering I will be sharing the most important day of my life with her). She provided me with concise information, showed me their products via a slideshow DVD and photo books, and answered all of my questions. I felt comfortable with everything she said, and was completely swept away by their stunning work.
Mr. Dalmatian wasn’t able to come to the meeting, but when I returned home I showed him the material I had gathered and was overflowing with excitement about this photographer. While he wasn’t quite as eager to ignore the smidgen over budget, he realized it would mean that we could get amazing pictures and he could clearly see how much it meant to me. So after a few more emails nailing down answers to some questions that popped up post-meeting, we booked them!
Where there any vendors that you had a gut feeling about? How did you find your photographer?
