Last weekend was a “to do” that was nothing but fun! My mother and I went cake tasting! Really it was cupcake tasting, but who cares—it was awesome!

We decided to go all out and pick four different flavors. Maybe it was because we wanted something for everyone, but more likely it was just too hard to pick only one or two. So, here they are!

1. Champagne - White-champagne cake with champagne-cream-cheese frosting with edible pearls and white chocolate
2. Kentucky Bourbon - Bourbon cake with pecans and chocolate chips, a cream-cheese frosting with pecans and chocolate chips drizzled in caramel and ganachè
3. Cannoli – Amaretto cake filled with cannoli cream, topped with cannoli-cream frosting and a traditional cannoli on top
4. Chocolate Salted Carmel - A special-dark-chocolate cake filled with caramel, topped with caramel frosting and dipped in ganachè with a pinch of sea salt on top

Gigi’s has a giant white four-tiered metal stand that they set the cupcakes up on after they’re delivered by the completely adorable cupcake mobile.

I was concerned that people wouldn’t have room for dessert after dinner, so they’re giving us boxes for guests who might want to take their cupcakes home. Even the boxes are cute!

Since we’re working with a business that is not geared toward weddings, instead of paying more, we’re getting a discount of 25 cents per cupcake because we’re ordering so many. Who knew basic kitchen ingredients became so expensive as soon as you tack the word wedding on? Also, no reception-site cake-cutting fee! These babies are pre (generously) portioned.
