The time is almost here! No, not the wedding. That is still 6+ months away. But our initial planning meeting is rapidly approaching! This meeting is with our venue, but since our venue is all inclusive, it is also a meeting with our florist. Please excuse my giddiness that it is time to start talking flowers.
Not to be self-centered, but let’s start with the bridal bouquet. I think this is a very good place to start—after all, there are boatloads of phenomenal inspiration pics.
Here is the first stunner that I came across:

In case you are as in love with this image as I am, here is a breakdown of the flowers that went into the bouquet (via The Full Bouquet): “crimson colored peony, yellow billy balls, blue viburnum berry, hot pink celosia, creme de la creme roses, yellow yarrow, yellow spray roses, succulents from our gardens, blue thistle, spray roses, dusty miller, and a collar of sea star fern.” As a flower illiterate, I thought this was very helpful! Imagine being able to go to a florist appointment and refer to “sea star fern” as opposed to “well, it kinda looks like a pine tree but less Chrismas-y and more soft, and the needle things are longer and further apart…you know what I mean?”

So pretty! Don’t you wish you could just carry a bouquet around everyday? I mean seriously, when things start to go sour, imagine being able to look down and see something so bright and beautiful.
Prior to compiling the various bouquet pictures I had bookmarked, I did not have any words to describe the style I wanted. But after looking at all of the photos that had caused my jaw to drop together, I had a few realizations:
I want a wildflower feel. I want lots of different kinds of colorful flowers. I want somewhat loose-looking (but not too loose). I like when the bottom of the stems show. Oh, and like all things in my life, there’s got to be some pink in there.
I hope these things are helpful during our planning meeting. I will come armed with photos as well!
What are you looking for in your bridal bouquet? Are you a well-versed flower fanatic or blossom illiterate like me? What are some resources you’ve used to help identify flower types?
