The Story of the $20 Invitations

November 2nd, 2011 @ 2:50 pm by Mrs. Raccoon

I caught these very invitations at no place other than Wal-Mart on super clearance.

Best wedding stumble-upon yet! They are kits that have everything needed, and you are supposed to be able to make them yourself from home. The key words I guess are “supposed to.” Printer, how do you do it? If I might be so brazen, you are a total brat.

Even if you could talk, I doubt you would be able to justify your actions.

Chunks of my beautiful ivory-with-pearl-border paper started disappearing. Were you hungry?

Sideways and faded? Those aren’t even the right fonts!

Half on and half off of the paper? Classic.

Printing over the border? Why, you little devil!

After exhausting all of its tricks, I was finally able to print our RSVP cards at home. I’m very happy with the way they eventually turned out, but I didn’t even consider trying to do the actual invitations with my printer. No way, no how.

Amazing photos, haha. I have definitely made those faces when dealing with my printer - plus a few more of me pulling my hair out!
The RSVP cards look great!

Printers are pretty much evil. Glad you got the response cards to work!

We had VERY similar issues with printing. Was grateful that that my darling FI took the brunt of the frustrating trial & error task.

They turned out great!

First of all, that is probably the deal of the century! And even though you struggled at the beginning, the end result is beautiful!

I printed my invites for super cheap as well. I went to Michael’s and had a 50% coupon which normally comes in every sunday paper or you can find the coupons online. I went and found these great invites with the coupn for $21 including tax. It was 40 invites and rsvp cards with envelopes. They came with templates online so it was super easy. I only paid 60 totals for my invites I customized them with additional ribbon, included a special enveloped sealer and added an additional card with more wedding information.

@shanly725: We used a mix of Burgues Script and Snell Roundhand

If the computer you’re using doesn’t have those and you don’t want to buy fonts, I’ve seen a lot of sites online like http://www.dafont.com/ that offer all sorts for free.

Your facial expressions are great! I almost tossed my printer out the window attempting a mail merge!

I bought super-clearance Walmart invites, too! I found some a few months ago for THREE DOLLARS a box- I bought the kits to do 100 invites for $12! Kind of dreading the printing process, though. My printer is notoriously finicky with odd papers. Glad I’m not the only one cruising the ‘Mart for clearance deals!

I had a huge fight with my printer trying to print our STD envelopes. Printers are just divas.
