Miss Kettle, Chicago, IL Age and Occupation: 26, Non-Profit Donor Resource Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Musician & Teacher Engagement Date: May 29, 2011 Wedding Date: February 2012 Venue: Patrick C. Haley Mansion, Joliet, IL About Me: I'm a city girl who loves a good escape, so I'm planning a Chicago wedding outside of the city. I've been described as a quirky yet down-to-earth drama queen who loves fiercely. I used to be a scientist, but now I'm learning to navigate the world of non-profit organizations. I love cooking, blogging, shopping, and music, and movies (Hans Zimmer is my favorite movie composer). Mr. Kettle and I had a short courtship and now we have a happy home with our cat-who-thinks-she's-people, Belle. We spend our days and nights with good food, live music, video games, family, and friends. Our wedding has become this wonderful excuse to bring together hundreds of people we can't bear to be without.
About Miss Kettle

Just Sitting and Waiting

November 5th, 2011 @ 12:20 pm by Miss Kettle

I’ve been a bad blogger, and I’m sorry, but there’s been a lot of nothing going on with my wedding planning. To illustrate my point, a list:

  • We know where we want to go for our honeymoon, but are still sorting out when we’re going to pay and when we’re going to book.
  • We still haven’t picked a florist.
  • Our DOC doesn’t actually know we picked her yet. That’s my fault. I should be sending an e-mail, but instead I’m blogging.
  • We haven’t had our venue meeting yet to sort out the last details of our plan for the day.
  • Our invitations are done, but not yet ordered.
  • The clothes are all picked out and ordered (except the hostesses), but nothing has arrived yet.
  • I’ve been so busy with work, I haven’t had time to start any of my DIY projects.

So basically, a whole bunch of almost something. I’m looking forward to having lots to talk about in just a couple weeks. November 15th is Momma Kettle’s and my deadline for having all the big stuff planned and all the little stuff started. Wish us luck!

In the meantime, I checked our wedding website, and I noticed something.

As I’m writing this post, we’re 99 days from my wedding. I completely forgot about being this close to the big 100 day mark. I am belatedly excited, and even more motivated to get this stuff done. It will get done!

When you reached 100 days, were you still in full swing or in a weird lull? At what point before your wedding did you break your planning lull?

Doesn’t it feel good to break into the double digits?! Just wait until the single digits are firmly in sight - it’s both exciting and weird!

Whoo hoo! Happy 99 days! ha ha I’ve been in a bit of a lull for a while but things are starting to pick back up with less than 2 months to go!

I feel like I don’t have much to plan either. I’ve still got 237 days till my wedding so I haven’t had a need to do invitations or any other smaller things that will need to be done closer to the date. Definitely in a lull now!

Hurray! We just realized last week that we are under 100 days too. We are just starting to get in the swing of things; our invitations should be arriving here sometime this week.

Same here….we have 217 days until the big day. Finally found a bakery but still need a DJ and florist. I am not even motivated to do anything but I should get my butt in gear. Wish time would go by faster so we can get more things done and over with…I hate playing the waiting game :/

I am in the same place. I’m a Feb. bride and I am nearing 100 days and I have a whole lot of half done stuff. I got my invites in the mail last week and now I have to assemble them along with all the odds and ends I have to start tying up… I have a list in my iPhone of things that need to be addressed. waiting for my weekend (FI and I are both off Wed/Thur) and I am gonna hopefully make a dent… good luck girl! we got this!

We all go through it! I think when I finally made a list of everything that needed to get done about three months out that it really helped to kick me into gear.

Oh my goodness, you’re getting so close! I know what you mean about having a lot of stuff *almost* done or *almost* ready to be started, but not quite there yet. Sort of going through that now, myself!! It’ll happen, of course, and I can’t wait to hear more of your planning!

When we got under 365 days I was like OHHH crap, better get a move-on. We booked all our vendors over a year out so I had sort of stalled on things after that. I’m still trying to break through that lull- kind of have no choice now. It’ll all get done for us though.
