About Mrs. Raccoon

This project was inspired by a very helpful Weddingbee Wiki! We made small baskets to place in the reception venue’s bathrooms that are filled with products which might be handy for guests.

When the Going Gets Tough: Bathroom Baskets : wedding decor diy indianapolis Raccoon raccoon

Is there really a good way to display tampons?

I know bathroom baskets aren’t necessary, but we had a few extra minutes and a few extra dollars. I like to think some people might need what’s inside and really appreciate having easy access to it.

Here’s a list of what we included:

  • Individual packs of tissues
  • Band-Aids
  • Floss
  • Hair ties
  • Bobby pins
  • Tampons
  • Tums
  • Ibuprofen
  • Gum
  • Tide “To Go” stick
  • Comb
  • Spray Deodorant
  • Safety pins

Can you think of anything else small we should add?

Static guard? We put some in ours even though I’m pretty sure no one used it.

I bought two of those same baskets at Michaels and plan on doing the same thing!

I also plan on adding some sort of cough drops, and anti diarhea medicine.

So cute! There is a distinct possibility that I will steal this idea :) The Tide to-go stick is genius!

Those wisp things. Do you have a nice set of tissues? Sometimes ones in the bathroom aren’t great.

We added some mouthwash and little paper cups, chapsticks, maxipads, and hand creme. Our bathroom basket was totally destroyed by the end of the night from heavy use!

We also had bathroom baskets (one for the ladies and one for the gents) at my sister’s wedding. In addition to the things you have mentioned above, we put these things in there:

- a small sewing kit (the ones you can find in hotels)
- a nail file
- hair spray and gel
- condoms (they were all gone by the end of the night…)

this might be me but in my lifetime I have been to tons of weddings or my friends and family and never been to a wedding that had baskets in bathrooms. where did this practice start from?

Immodium/Pepto Pills! For some people all that rich food will go right through them!

I second the lotion. That would be the one thing I know I would use (you could put a bottle by the soap pumps instead).

@AshleyB: I’ve never been to a wedding before that has had one either. The first time I saw one was here on Weddingbee and the idea just kind of stuck with me.

@amyalmighty: Glad someone else found them too! The baskets were too cute to walk away from.

@Coffeecake: Good idea to put a larger bottle out by the soap! More people would probably use it that way.

@gmcurtis: @Miss Mole: @karmi126: and @Miss Dalmatian:
Steal away! I really think it will save a lot of people from the discomfort and work of tracking items down. Some could even be embarrassed if they had to ask.

When we’ve dropped anchor, we might do a smaller scale one for regular parties too.
