Have no fear, hive. I’ll come right out and say it: my dress is officially (and finally) in my possession!
Also, Foxy…
…be gone, long one. Sneak pics ahead!
Not long after I last posted about the (lack of) buttons debacle, I called RK Bridal to check on the dress. They called me back a short time later and told me that the dress was actually ready this time, buttons and all. I had my doubts (since, you know, they were supposed to call me), but relayed the information to Foxy Mama right away seeing as she would the be the one to go check on the dress and give it the final “OK” (or another resounding “hell no,” as the case may be).
Well, if I thought I had a busy life, my mom tops mine tenfold. She was finally able to head into the salon about a month later, just as I was about to head into work. Right before my first client, I get a frantic call and text from her, asking if I remember how the buttons laid on the back of the dress since she’s not sure if they look right, they might be sticking out, etc and so forth. I told her I had faith in her—go Foxy Mama!—and the next thing I knew, I had a message saying that the dress was being shipped to me in Maryland via UPS that very afternoon!
(Un)fortunately for me, I was out sick from work for the next two days. Despite losing the income, I lean more towards this being a fortunate event because I was home the following day when a nice big package requiring a signature was delivered to my door.
Could it be?!
Yes, yes it could! My dress (and hairpiece) arrived!! Buttons and all!
They ended up having to order a whole new dress, then sew the buttons on at the store since Allure apparently couldn’t manage to do it on their own (can you tell I’m a bit bitter?).
Of course I tried it on within 10 minutes of opening the box. Foxy was sleeping, so I shut the bedroom door, locked the cats out of our walk-in closet, laid a sheet on the ground, and slipped into that beauty. I don’t have any pictures of that particular day (dress excitement > cameras), but since you guys are such troopers… there’s no harm in showing you the back of the sample dress, right?
Can you see the buttons?? I’m in love.. just. love.
And now… a big sigh of relief. The dress is in my possession, I can use my toilet paper for its intended purpose instead of for a backup dress, and the buttons are looking pretty close to how I imagined them being. A little hemming of the bottom and a little tuck up top and it should fit like a gem. Huzzah!
All in all, the process of trying on, ordering, and receiving my dress took just shy of a year. How long did it take you?
