Dress Shopping: The Rejects Round 2

November 9th, 2011 @ 8:27 am by Miss Elk

Before dress shopping I had never really heard of the brand Marissa, because they do not advertise. Many of the salons I visited carried their dresses, and since they’re simple and in my price range I found myself trying on a lot of them

I really wanted to like this dress with bias-cut layers, but it didn’t do much for my body. Having a belt with it, though, made it a lot more appealing.

This is the dress that made me realize I wanted to wear something fitted. In the store I didn’t think much of it, but once home and looking at pictures I LOVED how this dress accentuated my waist. I tried this dress on in two other stores, but in the end felt it wasn’t quite right.

Loved the shape of this dress (pretty similar to the one above), but didn’t really like the fabric (not that light airy feel I was going for) and it was a little too plain for me.

My mom and grandma LOVED this dress. They felt it was the perfect combination of light and airiness. They had me convinced for a split second, and I therefore convinced the nice lady at the bridal salon that I MUST have a picture if I were to ever make up my mind, even though pictures were strictly forbidden. Once I looked at the pictures at home, I knew it wasn’t for me.

And so, another round of dressing shopping failed to impress me. Oh well, that just means more dress shopping for me and more rejects for you to enjoy!!

How many tries did it take for you to find your dress?

Surprisingly, I only tried on three dresses. I couldn’t decide between the first and third so I brought my mom the next weekend and we chose mine. It was probably the easiest dress shopping ever. I can’t even choose a Halloween costume that easily.

It looks like you’re really getting an idea of what you want - I’m impressed you swayed the people at the salon to let you take a picture! I always got too terrified to ask, lol!

I love this style on you! You look great in the last one, but I don’t think it flatters you as well as the others. I can’t wait to see your final selection.

I wore that first Marisa for my wedding. Love her designs.
I really like that second one on you. Very flattering and beautiful.

I’ve tried on about 20 dresses. Luckily, I’m fairly certain I found my dress! I haven’t ordered it yet because I want to try it on one more time just to make sure I feel just as fantastic as I did the first time I wore it :)
I’m sure you’ll find the perfect dress! You just have to shovel through all the “not quite”s to find it.

I was never allowed to take pictures in the different salons even if I asked nicely. Only one place let me in my travels which was refreshing.

You don’t want to know how many dresses I tried on before I found “the one”. haha. It was at least 70 dresses.. I think I went to 10 different bridal salons until I went back to the very first bridal salon I ever went to and got a dress there (totally different dress though).

But I’m a picky person in general with clothing and the first two visits didn’t really count because I was trying on a whole bunch of styles/designs to see what looked good on me then I was able to narrow it down.

I also agree, I like the first dress the best :) Good luck!!
