After the incredible toasts and the delicious dinner (that unlike many couples, we actually ATE), it was on to the tradition of “cutting the cake” - only we didn’t have cake. Nope…no cake. Need a refresher on why? Click here.

Enter the land of mini-pies.

Spoiler - our “cutting” pie is in view at the top there.

Hello mini-pies, I love you.

So to preserve the tradition of “cutting the cake” we decided to get a larger, normal-sized pie for us to “cut” and give our guests mini-pies to enjoy. We chose five flavors and I created little pie flags so you could tell what kind you were selecting. Oh how I loved those little flags.

Let the pie fun begin…

Following our pie moment, we were surprised with a song that Mama Frog had recorded for us as a gift for our special day. Quick background: Mama Frog has been a singer all her life and has quite a bit of professional experience under her belt so we were thrilled with such a personal and sentimental gift. Oh and for the record…that incredible gift of hers…yeah, this little froggie didn’t inherit it.

Yum I love me some pie! I am considering having pie, but I don’t know yet if I want it instead of, or in addition to, cake.

Love this!! We are doing mini pies too!! And I was thinking of doing a big pie for the groom’s cake… did you make your own mini pies or have them made? If you made them, did you make in advance? What recipies did you use? Yay! So glad to see someone else doing this!

Love the pie idea, I don’t like cake or frosting so we’re doing something different for dessert too. I also agree with the others I love the sequence of how you display your pictures! p.s- Has anyone ever told you that you look like Leighton Meester (aka- Blair Waldorf on Gossip Girl?!? lol)

Love the mini pies! Did you bake them yourself??? I am torn because I cannot bake… like, I am genetically defective in this area, but Mr.A doesn’t like cake so I have agreed to pie. If worst comes to worst I was thinking that there are large chain stores that sell mini pie for cheap and we could use those, right?!? :/ We will also be doing a cheesecake bar as an alternative. (Think slices of plain cheesecake with jars/bowls of deliciousness to put on top!) Yummmm!

@cdubs2012: @Fixin2BMrs.Awesome: I didn’t make the pies - we got them from a fantastic local bakery so unfortunately I can’t give much help there!

@Aud1628: You know it’s funny - I’ve been told that Leighton Meester thing only since I started blogging on the ‘bee. I don’t watch that show but perhaps I need to be paying more attention!
